An American Quilt- Stitching Together our 9/11 Memories is a documentary that Director Roz Sohnen began in early 2002 after the tragedy of September 11th. It tells the stories of seven families, among the many, who lost loved ones on 9/11 and dealt with their grief by creating memorial quilt panels. This film is about family, love, loss, courage and how creating art provided us with a window into the lives lost. It was also a labor of love, working on a shoestring budget, sharing what we learned about the lives of ordinary people coping with extraordinary circumstances and refusing to remain powerless. Included are interviews with Jan Seidler Ramirez, Chief Curator of the September11th Memorial & Museum in NYC, and Dr. Gail Saltz, a psychiatrist, also in NYC, who explains how creating art helps in the healing process. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door. email summitfilm@gmail.com to reserve advance tix
