Enjoy this special one-day community event as select area landscape painters gather at Durand-Hedden’s idyllic Grasmere Park for a day of painting in this unique natural setting. Watch artists at work and learn about technique, choice of vantage point, composition, and palette. An exhibit of works by these artists will be displayed inside Durand-Hedden House, which also houses several paintings by Durand, former Maplewood resident and famed Hudson River School artist. The Durand-Hedden House, Maplewood’s historic house museum, is at 523 Ridgewood Rd. And visit the Country Store, with its unique gifts, books and children’s toys.
