On Sunday morning, January 29, 2017, the Men's Club of Temple B'nai Abraham will hold its annual sports breakfast at the temple, 300 East Northfield Road, Livingston. Men’s Club is very excited to present this year’s guest speaker Willie Randolph, Two-Time World Series Champion, former NY Yankees player and former NY Mets’ Manager. The breakfast and check-in will begin at 9:00 AM and the program will begin at 10:00 AM. A delicious hot and cold breakfast buffet prepared by Men’s Club members will be served. There will be an opportunity for autograph signing with Mr. Randolph. Brian Altman is TBA Men's Club President, and the Sports Breakfast Committee members are Craig Kantor, Rob Stecklow, Andy Sonnenberg, Evan Mason, Scott Wolfson, Carey Gertler and Mitch Katz. During an 18-year baseball career, Willie Randolph played for six different teams, most notably the New York Yankees. He was a 6-time All-Star at second base and 2-time World Series Champion with the Yankees. Upon retiring as a player, he joined the Yankees as a coach for 11 years. He later served as manager of the New York Mets from 2005 to June 2008. During this event, Men’s Club is participating in Dunk Your Kicks program of donating used sneakers ( in good, gently-used condition) to support The Max Cure Foundation.Through a project of recent Bat Mitzvah, TBA student, Ashley Sonnenberg, the sneaker collection will be in progress during this morning event from 9:00-11:00 AM. Both children and adult sneakers are needed. For those who wish to donate sneakers and not attending the event, there will be donation receptacles set-up in the temple lobby the week before the event as well as the day of the Sports Breakfast. It is helpful if the sneakers are tied together, as this will make it easier to count. The Max Cure Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for pediatric cancer research and providing financial assistance to low-income and/or military families who have a child with cancer. One of Max Cure's biggest fundraising initiatives is called Dunk Your Kicks. Through Dunk Your Kicks, MCF collects used sneakers from various donation sources across the country. They in turn work with an international footwear recycler, Re-Think Nation, who gives MCF up to $1.00 for every pair of shoes donated. RTN goes on to sell the shoes at an affordable price in developing nations, where access to proper footwear is often limited. If you would like to learn more about the Max Cure Foundation, please visit their website:http://www.maxcurefoundation.org/. Spend the morning with us for this wonderful family event!
