Artists Studio Tour
I heard this on Saturday. Reason I was given is that the majority of participating artists preferred November to the 1st week in June.
Even more distressing is the town's take over of 1978.

What do you mean by takeover?
I know nothing official, but the last couple of Studio Tours landed on weekends that were beautiful and everyone went to the pools or the beach instead. Attendance has been declining as far as I can tell, and the artists (and I agree) decided it would be better to move it outside of the burgeoning summer and into the fall season instead, I imagine also in order to capture buyers looking for holiday gifts.
Again, I'm not involved in the move, but I have shown my photographs at a few Studio Tours and this is what I heard from some other artists in the loop. So I could be completely wrong about the reason behind the move.
1978 is presently run by a board as a not for profit enterprise in a building owned by the town. I was told by a member of 1978's board that the town has now decided to take over administration of the property under the jurisdiction of the Director of Cultural Affairs. That is the extent of what I know on the subject.
I do the tour and volunteered 2 years ago, and it was discussed as a way to increase turnout.
I just read the Artists Studio Tour will be held in November this year. Anybody know the reason for the switch from June? Too much competition on the calendar?
