Asbestos: D S Abatement (Totowa) or D S Restoration (Patterson)? archived

We have a small amount of asbestos covered pipe in the basement. If we can afford it I would prefer to have it removed instead of encapsulated. Have seen threads for both these companies. Which one would you all recommend? D S Abatement (Totowa) or D S Restoration (Patterson)? Thanks in advance, neighbors!
I think they use to be one group, then divided over some dispute. Don't know details. The State keeps lists of licensed abatement contractors.

Thanks for this info!

Anyone else have good or bad experiences with either company? It's starting to look like DS Abatement is the one to avoid.

Do a search this has been asked many times before on this board.

Thanks, but I have already searched previous threads.

I'm asking for feedback because there are confusing previous threads and posts on this subject and, in particular, about these two companies.

Both my inspector and my engineer recommended DS Restoration of Paterson. I had them come out to review my situation and give me a proposal. I haven't had the work done yet, but the project manager (Ian Melhuish) was responsive and thorough and did a great job helping me understand my options.

Does anyone have any ballpark numbers for removing asbestos flooring? A rough per sq. ft cost?

We used D&S Restoration do remove asbestos insulation and tiles. It was about a year and half ago and had a positive experience. I remember being confused between D&S Restoration and D&S Abatement as well.
