Bamboo Removal Co

Our neighbor’s bamboo is beginning to creep into our yard. We are looking for a bamboo removal co.

Thank you!

You could try Ed at Little Acre Farm:

Once bamboo is removed from your yard - you would really need to install a barrier as well.

Talk to your neighbor.  You can remove from your yard but it will be a losing battle.

Most bamboo is VERY invasive.  Some species can send runners 25-35' underground, so they come up behind you.

If you kick the tip off of the new growths while young, you stop that years growth (and tips are edible).  However, runners will continue to stretch.  Only known remedies are total removal, or a thick concrete barrier extending well underground.

thanks for all the feedback. wondering if anyone can give me an amount if MAY be?  i absolutely could not be more clueless on this subject. i am fully aware prices will vary significantly depending on how much we have...etc. but a ballpark on what you or someone you know paid would be immensely helpful. thank you!

Unless your neighbor also plans on getting rid of the bamboo, -all resistance will be futile.

However, I have quite a large and tall grove of bamboo in a corner of my own yard which will often try to invade the rest of the yard with runners and shoots. I've found that it takes very little effort to chop those runners and shoots on occasion to keep the grove at bay.

from my understanding, i thought we could have a barrier placed in the ground (after all bamboo has been removed) and that should stop it??  is this true?

In parks and botanical gardens, I have seen bamboo groves lined with a concrete barrier (abt 4" thick, extending into the ground, unknown depth).

taaj,

-Yes, to be fair, that may work. I guess I was really saying that for myself, such a solution has not been worth it since with just a bit of diligence (along with all the other regular yard work) such a barrier has not been needed.

Up to you of course.

The barrier should stop it.  You'll need to dig a fairly deep trench.  Barrier is holding up fine for my bamboo.  But it's completely contained and I think mine is 30" deep.
