Bluegrass from Norway

About 6 months ago, I got a link to Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra. Then another link to Darling West. These are two bluegrass groups from Norway. Both are on Youtube.

Then came Monica Heldal. Not so much bluegrass, but still good.

They are addictive and as good as anything that comes out of Appalachia.

can you please provide some YouTube links? I'm always interested in musical discovery. Thanks!

One of my favorites. They do it well. Thanks for sharing, JJ!

Much deeper dive:

Of the three on this set, my favorites are Wayfaring Stranger for Rebekka voice control, All My Tears and My Lord, Don't Forsake Me.

I am not religious but their rendition of those songs is phenomenal.

Thanks for posting, I have been out all day.

Her voice on Wayfaring Stranger is incredible.

I agree. The control, especially when she makes the jump to that high note. The song was worn out in the "folk era" of the 60's but their rendition captivates.

There are other Youtube threads on Hade that have people reporting, still going back to them for months.

I have enjoyed Bill Monroe, Stanley(s), Seldom Scene, Country Gentlemen, Old And In The Way and others. None of them generate the raw emotion of the combination of Rebekka, the harmony and that violin.
