Budget accomodations in Boston?

I need to book a room in the Boston vicinity over Labor Day. I just need clean, not fancy. Any advices?

use priceline and bid for a room -- Boston is a very expensive city to stay in, like New York, with lots of tourists on holidays. good luck!

The Doubletree in Brighton is fairly cheap and actually pretty nice - you can probably get $90-100/night via Priceline. It's in the middle of a transit black hole, and driving can be a pain (it's right on Soldiers Field Rd).

There's also a Days Inn a little further down SFR but I've never stayed there.

It also depends on your definition of "vicinity".

I'm reviving this thread to see if there are any other ideas for Boston budget accommodations--on a college student's budget. Attending a gaming convention but doesn't have friends in the area. Must be safe area--young woman traveling alone. Second week of December--I wonder if any colleges would have empty student housing yet? Any other ideas appreciated!

Are there any youth hostels in the area that would work for her?

Where exactly is this convention?

Wang Theatre...I don't think she will have a car but is good with using public transit.

Agree with Priceline. "Empty student housing?" I would think that colleges don't rent to anyone who isn't a current student or faculty member - security and logistical issues.

there's a hostel on or near Boylston near Emerson College.

ETA: I've read posts from Emerson College parents who've reported it to be basic and clean.

Have had good experience with AirBnB, as have my college-age kids. Pick one that has lots of reviews; I find them to be very accurate. $35 off your first reservation over $75 using this link: http://bit.ly/2dNxBLD

Apple-I remember hearing about someone staying in campus housing for a vacation in London...no idea if anyone does that here but that's why I put it out there. She had a not so great experience with Air so is hesitant to do that for this trip. Hostel might work--TY!

You'll have to balance price and convenience. The holiday inn Brookline is 20 minutes by T but probably around $120.
