Can books be put out with recycling?

Probably totally obvious, but thought I should confirm. Paperback and hardcover; not enough for bookbgone; not interesting enough for train station rack.

I don't know what town you are in, but for Maplewood I don't see books mentioned other than telephone books.

Here is the WM link for recycling in Maplewood in regards to what is and isn't accepted.

You can bring books to the recycling center.

There's also a book carousel at the Maplewood train station where you can give/take (small carousel tho, not sure how much you have). The Vietnam vets will pick up and you'll be doing a good thigand  getting a tax deduction!

If the books are in good condition, you can donate them to the Friends of the Library in Maplewood and help support the library's many activities and needs.  Unfortunately, the sale was held very recently and it will be awhile before they are accepting books again.

Several of the religious institutions in our area accept books for their rummage sales.  Morrow, for example, should be collecting items shortly for their turnover sale.

We donate books to the library at the VA Hospital in EO.  They have been accepting them at the reception desk in the front hall.  These books seem to be accepted at any time.

I've put  books in recycling and the guys have never said anything. I make sure it doesn't make the toter too heavy but other than that I just throw them in.

From what I understand, if the books can't be reused (Better World has a toter at the So Orange Library if the books at all rereadable), you can recycle paperbacks and if you rip the covers off of hard backs, recycle the innards and throw out the covers.

you can offer them on freecycle
