 That's for another discussion board.

One of my favorite political couples is James Carville and Mary Matalin.

A long time ago in an era before Trump was President, Mr. Surovell invited me to accompany him to Temple B’nai Abraham in Livingston, where Senator Booker was speaking on the Iran nuclear deal and the upcoming Senate vote on that deal.  He presented solid information, and discussed his thinking about the deal and answered questions.  He seemed knowledgeable, thoughtful, and willing to consider the facts (not hyperbole) in his decision.  Ultimately he voted to approve the deal, an action Mr. Surovell praised.

For some reason (well, probably Bernie and Tulsi related), Mr. Surovell now treats Senator Booker with a middle school sensibility, as some kind of minstrel figure he mocks with irrelevant material like this thread.

Might be because Mr. Surovell always focuses seriously on the issues and he drills down deep into the factual details.  He would not hesitate to praise someone who supported a policy he felt strongly about.  That does not mean he supports that person entirely.  Anyone considering 2020 support for Booker needs to look at his whole record and that includes his support for charter schools, Wall Street, and the drug companies.  So, no surprise, Tulsi and Bernie look much better to many.

Also, your comment about "kind of minstrel figure" is waaaaaaay out of line and and a disgusting attempt at a smear.  Says more about you than him.

Also, are you not getting the humor here?  Mr. Always Serious about the issues is tweeting about gossip!   Is he not allowed a lighthearted moment?   I never would have thought Booker and Dawson would find love, but ya never know.  I don't anticipate you and Paul hooking up, but maybe someday you can get coffee together and have a nice chat.

OK. Minor actress. Has been in some TV shows I've never seen.

Will Smith's love interest in "Men in Black 2".

Ms. Nan - maybe you and Mr. Surovell should consider how this type of juvenile mocking of Senator Booker is heard by people who aren't white suburbanites like the three of us.

Heads up: a lot of non-white people don’t like Mr Booker either, especially based on his pro corporate record in Newark. But it is true that nan and company have a very suburban ( dare I say privileged?) viewpoint of things. Especially concerning the fact that their progressive preferences in candidates seem to take priority over defeating white supremist Trump. Hope I’m wrong about that.

I'm unapologetically a Cory Booker fan. It never crossed my mind that the thread was in any way offensive. And seeing the word "love" in an MOL thread title may be a first, but I'm ready for it. Its spring, when a political activists thoughts turn to love!

Seriously, you need to get off MOL for a few days and read People Magazine and get your sense of perspective back, not to mention humor.  Booker is a public figure and he can handle remarks about this non-issue. It's not like he paid to get his kids into Stanford.

This.  Nasty, offensive and surprising, given the poster.  Is something happening to nohero offline that would put his recent swing to the vicious in perspective?

My thoughts as well.  His posts have been out of character.

End scene.

Funny that you should mention that event. Last month I defended Cory on Twitter, citing his courageous and historic role in the Iran Nuclear Deal.

Also funny that you would say I'm "mocking" Cory for his relationship with Rosario. I see it reflecting favorably on his politics and on his character.

Here are my Tweets last month. The original Tweet critical of Cory has apparently been removed:

I'm not on every day, and don't go into the evening or early morning hours.

I don't know if the advice to get a "sense of perspective back" by reading "People" is serious.

I don't think it has anything to do with his politics.

I learn something new every day from MOL.

Thank you.

Who Cory Booker is in love with, and what his or her past and present political affiliations are, is probably one of the most irrelevant topics I have ever seen here on MOL.

then, obviously, you have forgotten our last presidential campaign issues already- big ears, short fingers, pitting a dog crate atop a station wagon, too fat, wardrobe mistakes, hair coifs, male and female, on and on.

Has begun already for 2020: Warren’s heritage. Beto’s hands, Booker’s date, and with so much more coming as more DNC candidates declare daily.

Our last presidential campaign is something that I am actively trying to purge from my memory

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think you meant to say Cory Booker's past and present affiliations are irrelevant.

And I think it's naive to think that past and present affiliations of Rosario Dawson will be irrelevant to her relationship with Cory and how they might influence his thinking -- at least to the extent of sharing political ideas and perspective. But more important, I think that Cory's willingness to join with someone whose recent history is regarded as anathema by the Democratic establishment is a testament to his independence and character. So for that reason alone, the topic is relevant, IMHO.

Or more likely, not. And, you may simply be full of it.

Maybe speculate on the evolution of Rosario Dawson’s thinking, as long as you feel the need to speculate.

No, I did not intend to say that Booker's affiliations are irrelevant. I intended to say that who he is in love with, and what the affiliations of that person are (boy or girl, hence the "his or her"), are irrelevant. And I am very much bi-partisan, I don't care what Melania Trump's political ideas are either.
