Jerry O'Connell is very good at this stuff, if he can't do it no one can, he advertises here under Monster Computer Service.
You have a great chance of retrieving the data. I had this happen to my Mac just before the holidays, dumped a cup of coffee across the keyboard. No trouble getting the data back.
remember the drive itself is sealed, your data is there. If the electronics controlling the drive are fried, they can use the electronics from a similar drive to read drive if need be. Afterwards, go to the cloud. Not only will you never lose data, you can easily access from your tablet, phone, other computer as needed!

Yeah, figured that. Thanks all.
Chances are good you can remove that hard drive and connect it to another system. There are adapters you can buy that plug into the SATA connector on the drive and to a USB port of a computer. The fact that the computer won't start doesn't indicate any damage to the hard drive.

Seems *somebody* managed to get their laptop wet. Not too wet, but still... Tried the bowl of rice and the hair dryer.
Is that the hard drive in the lower left side of the pic? Would Best Buy or somebody else be able to recover the contents?
