Gmail settings?

Where/How do I change the settings, so emails come in as separate messages, rather than add-on to a long chain?

If you want to split email conversation, then follow these instructions

1. Open Gmail.
2. Click the gear in the top right.

It works in standard view.  You don't see the settings button in HTML view.

Scroll down to the Conversation View section (stay in the "General" tab).

Choose Conversation view off.

Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Now if I can only figure out how to do the same thing on my iPhone.

like when did that become default? I hate convos like that, but now i'll have to change them back. hard to find older ones when you need to sometimes--and sometimes I'll miss an email that's hidden in the chain..thanks for the question/answer!

I'm pretty sure it's been the default since Gmail existed. And then most programs that have updated in the last decade or so have made the switch.  I had turned it off for a long time, but I eventually made my peace with it and my life has probably generally been better. The only real problem is when people do personally targeted unrelated responses to group emails, which unfortunately happens to me a lot as I run IT at work and people in general have a large amounts of bad habits (to say the least!)and a few conspire together to cause that sort of situation.

Another g-mail question.  Why does a reply to my email come into my inbox labeled "Me" and not from the responding person?
