Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Heat Advisory, Wednesday Aug 21.

Heat Advisory and Potential for Severe Thunderstorms Wednesday Aug 21.

High heat and high humidity combine today for a truly miserable experience. Afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s with heat index in the low 90s. In addition, high instability means there is a good chance for thunderstorms and possibly severe thunderstorms all day, but especially in the afternoon. Showers or a storm in the earlier part of the day, if they occur, would lower the heat and the energy in the atmosphere, lowering the afternoon storm risk.

At this time, the heat advisory is expected to run through tomorrow but storms, if they occur, could lower the temperature profile enough to mitigate this.
