How Do I Close Pop-up Box?

On the bottom right of my screen is a box titled "Dell Update".. It says that two updates are ready to install, and it then lists them. In the upper left of the box is a blue arrow pointing down on which is imposed a rotary like thing. There is nothing I see to click on to close this. In fact there is nothing I can see to click if  I actually wanted to install these updates.

HELP!

Is there a small "x" in the upper right hand corner of the pop-up box (You might have to move your mouse over the box to see it.)?  If so, clicking on the small "x" will close the box.  If no "x" appears, does a corresponding box appear on your status bar (usually along the bottom of your screen) which shows the programs/websites you have open?  If so, you should be able to close the pop-up box by clicking on the corresponding box on your status bar.

Not sure from your description what the blue arrow and rotary like thing are (a screen shot would help).  I generally get a blue arrow on my lap top when a program is downloading.

Jeez, it sounds like it might be worth reloading Windows without the Dell crapware. That stuff causes more problems than it solves.

There is no x on the status bar. There is nothing on the status bar. There appears to be a film-like translucent screen over the status bar that also covers the bottom of the pop-up box.

How do I do a screen shot?

I have no idea how to do that. I am very unsavy with respect to technology.

I will probably just take the laptop into Best Buys if the problem persists.

The "x" would be in the pop-up box, not on the status bar.  Question was whether there was a separate much smaller box on the status bar that corresponds with the pop-up box.

My Dell keyboard has a key towards the upper right, over the navigation keys, that has the words "print screen" on it.  You should be able to use that key, if you have it, to take a screen shot.

Maybe Bestbuy would be willing to load generic Windows. I can't walk you through it, as I don't remember, and if I remembered, it would probably be outdated knowledge. But I've done it in the past, and it made an improvement. Microsoft has tried to get vendors to cut the crapware down or out, and it doesn't seem that they've succeeded.

I just figured it out. On the status bar at bottom there was something to click on that when I moved the curser over it said "show hidden icons". One of those was "exit updates" or something like that. I clicked on it and the annoying box finally went away.

Thank you Joan

You too, Tom

Glad the problem was resolved.
