How far will Trump go? Child Abuse Edition.

I can't help but think that we may be at a turning point in the Trump Presidency. His rhetoric is as unhinged and inflammatory as I've ever seen. And there's no sign that he's going to stop his doubling down strategy.

The question for me is whether Trump can ride this out without changing his family destruction policy by executive action. If he did that, it would be a very uncharacteristic defeat for him.

Not only is Trump's rhetoric getting worse, so is that of his sycophants in the media. The language being used to describe immigrants (infest, invaders) is getting pretty bad.

Of course, Republican opposition, though louder than usual, is still pretty muted.  Public opposition is as loud as it's ever been.

Did you see the letter sent to Sessions from his church accusing him of child abuse because of this policy? With 600 signatures.

 Every time, we say “well, if this isn’t the turning point, oh my God” and it just gets worse and worse. Children in cages crying for their mothers. There is no bottom. It’s an endless, bottomless pit of horror. We have no way out. And we will never recover.

Stephanie Ruhle. cried profusely on the following show. My reaction was pure anger. I think we need to find some concrete actions to channel our anger or sorrow. He will not win. We will.

By now you have have heard about that modest Facebook fundraiser that went into overdrive. We had a gender equality moment like that a couple of years back that almost stopped the nation; it stopped federal Parliament and Cabinet, which was part of its intention. 

And I heard there's a partial turnaround in family separations, but I can't work out what it means.

 There's no way the Republican Senate is going to get rid of a man who regularly makes liberals cry.  Their base would lynch them.  This is what Trump succeeding looks like.  We will all be crying soon.

polls are showing that only about a third of Republicans oppose this family separation policy. That is enough to keep the GOP in power.

And now it appears Sessions has indicated we will use DNA testing to verify family ties.....How much more do we need to crucify these a-holes?

 Are you sure you should be using the word "feel"?  I think a fair argument can be made that anyone who supports this policy is simply incapable of human feeling. Certainly they are incapable of human decency.

Speaking for myself, that's one of the numerous reasons I oppose wars of choice (Iraq). The impact on families is something typically not discussed, unfortunately. But opposing war has become unpatriotic and questioning the motivations of those sending people to war is nearly treasonous. Thanks to the right for that: massive destruction across generations. Well done.

Whether we are at war or not, we still need to have an active military. That means separating parents from children.....you can oppose war all you want, but let's hear the crying for the separated children from this group......crickets

Well, aren't we all in an optimistic mood today. Of course it is bad, but we've had dark periods before, and we"ll get through this also. Progress cannot always be linear.

Obviously it is hard on military families when parents are deployed but to find some equivalence between what is being done to refugees and military families is quite a reach.

Can you point us to the website of Trump apologist talking points from which you are lifting this stuff?

At least tell us that you have served and didn't have bone spurs.

He's got a point. No one here cries for the children left behind when investment bankers are sent overseas, either. Nor for the children of traveling salesmen, archaeologists on extended digs, engineers building bridges in foreign countries, physicians working with Doctors Without Borders, cruise ship staff, international airline crews or journalists.

Besides, those kids'll be fine. Macauley Culkin got left behind TWICE - the second time President Donald Trump himself helped Mac find the lobby in his hotel. I mean, he should have called the authorities to alert them of a lost 10 year old running around, but that's for losers and crybaby lib snowflakes. I mean look how great Macauley Culkin turned out thanks to President Trump? Exactly! He's starring in a series of British insurance commercials alongside two lovable CGI meerkats with Russian accents.
