A previous poster had something like this happen when the spammers/hackers were trying to distract them from an email message from their online bank saying that their email address is being changed (as the spammers/hackers are getting into it).
ETA: They became aware of the bank issue (i think the email address change) via a text from the bank.
I don't remember the solution... but perhaps change the password to your email account for starters.
(ETA: And bank account)

I'm on the phone with Wayfair now, and sure enough, something was ordered in my name, and I can see it on my online Visa account. She is canceling it, but it's not clear if I only need to be worried about Wayfair being hacked, or everything else.

Might be time to contact your VISA provider and request a new account number.

I'm glad you caught this issue...
I hope you find where they are getting into your stuff, and how to lock them out.

Thanks, again, sprout. I just changed my password on a number of other critical accounts, but man, it's hard to think of all the places where you've created accounts and stored passwords. I typically try not to store credit card account info, but sometimes don't even realize that I've done so.

This morning I awoke to hundreds of the same spam email from numerous "different senders", though many repeats. Each message had the same subject, but with a different number at the end, and the text inside appeared to be the same, though I didn't examine it with a fine tooth comb.
Has anyone ever seen this? Should I be worried?
