If I were to host a MOL pool party . . .

what would everyone expect me to provide?  Besides the pool.  smile   I could see providing some basic beverages and snacks.  Would a potluck type of thing work?

What day of the week?  Like a Tue, Wed or Thu?  Time 6-10ish?  Or start earlier on a Sunday?

 You forgot neat nachos.

I love when people do potluck for an event like this. As long as people give an idea what they’re bringing, it’s easy for the host to say, “we will provide beef and veggie burgers (or your fave specialty), please bring a dish to share and your beverage of choice.” Then on something like evite it gives a list option and you can write in number of salads, sides, other main dishes etc.  (I personally like it because then I know I can at least bring a dish without being embarrassed because otherwise there might not be anything for me to eat.)

For just another couple or two I wouldn’t do it but for a crowd I do. If someone is just popping in I don’t expect them to bring a platter of food, and there are always people who will bring more or less or nothing, it all works out.

Stream it so the out-of-towners (eg the Aussies!) can join in.  Have the stream password-protected so that only invited guests can join in.

I think you need to ask @ctrzaska.  surprised

I'll come, but I need some notice, so I can drive up from South Carolina.

We do what @shh described although I don’t usually provide a list. We say that we will provide the meat and just ask everyone to bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert plus a beverage. We use evite and some people comment on what they’re bringing, but not all. It seems to work out every time.

What? Not one vegan option! (Except the wine, so let's go for a Cabernet Sauvignon. Freezing cold.)

I'd better plant more basil if I'm bringing pesto over room temperature ziti. Mentioning the temperature as it seems to be a consideration of

Temperature is always a consideration. And my apologies for not mentioning a vegan dish. I'm not a vegan, obviously, and I was concocting an ideal summer BBQ meal for me.
