Is Uber best way to get home from JFK?

Is Uber the best way to get home from JFK? If so, where is the best place to wait for the car? Thanks!!

It's expensive. I think it was about $120 the two times I had to do it. But that still might be less than a regular taxi. It's cheaper if you start here and go to JFK, but more expensive starting at JFK.

Sounds about the same as a regular taxi. There's also a shuttle service that runs from JFK to Newark Liberty from which you can get a less expensive taxi ride.

I thought there was a shuttle to the train from JFK.

Taxi to resorts world casino would run you like $10-15 from JFK. Free shuttle from resorts to NYC (42nd or 47th its been a minute since I took it). Walk to Penn, midtown direct home for $8.

Sounds good, but aren't the casino people onto this freeloading? That is, assuming you have a wheely bag and/or other luggage as you would coming off a flight.

There's no hotel at Resorts World, so travel bags would stand out.

A follow-up: I ended up taking Uber to and from JFK (couldn't get the flight I wanted from EWR). Although the time and distance were longer going to JFK, the charge was $95 (pretty reasonable), but the charge coming back was $150. In total it was still cheaper than some of the quotes I received from local car services, but it was not cheap. ArchBroad was correct about it being more expensive from NYC. The reason is that the fare per distance / time is higher for Uber NYC vs. Uber NJ. Next time I may consider driving and parking off-site, though it was convenient to be picked up and dropped off from the terminal, especially with tired family members in tow.

thanks for the info!

I have found Uber to always be considerably cheaper to EWR and locally. But for LGA or JFK, I find them to be more expensive than a cab more often than not

Uber had a rate change last month for trips originating from EWR: http://www.driveubernj.com/newark-update-nj/ Rates to EWR stay the same.

Uber NY rates are double Uber NJ rates so trips to EWR from my house are around $20 but trips from EWR are now about $40.

Yes, especially because they are unreliable from EWR, having to constantly avoid the police.

For $40 might as well stand in the taxi line for the return trip.

I'm not sure I agree. I am a frequent user of Uber all over the country. From EWR to my house, a cab is about $45 and they charge a dollar or something for bags. The vehicles are not very nice, the driver is usually desultory at best, often on the phone the whole time and there is no accountability. On the other hand, I have never had a problem getting an Uber at the airport - even in the middle of the night (while I have waited in line for 45 minutes for a cab), the cost for me is still cheaper than a cab and it is a far more pleasant experience by far.
