ISO Carpet Installer

Looking for an inexpensive carpet installer.   I want to carpet my concrete basement floor with an inexpensive carpet.  The area is split in to two rooms but is still a fairly easy job.  The only time the basement had flooded was when the sump pump failed.  However, I still don't want to take a chance with an expensive carpet.

I would attempt to do it myself, but I had surgery on my wrist a few weeks ago and will be in a cast for at least another month.

Thank you in advance.

Fjj,

Is that a company or a person?

Thank you,

Eric

Ok, great.  I will give him a call.  Thank you.

I can’t recommend an installer, but since you mentioned that water damage is a concern, I can add my two cents from the perspective of a restoration contractor.   When it comes to basement carpet over concrete you can either install carpet stretched over padding with tack strips, or you can glue it directly to the concrete.   In the case of a flood, the latter can generally be saved unless it is sewer water or contaminated with other stuff from the basement.   Most often restoration guys tear out carpet installed over padding because the multiple layers are harder to dry out properly.  This practice is generally approved by your insurer.

Thank you for the advice.  I don't think I am going to use padding.   Looking to spend as little as possible on this project.

We really don't use the basement at all, we hardly even go down there.  The walls and ceilings are all finished with sheetrock, baseboard molding, plenty of outlets and recessed lighting but it still has the basement look and feel.  I am hoping the carpet will make a big difference when it comes time to sell.

Any other ideas on how to make it look finished would be greatly appreciated.
