congrats on couch-- to train dog to not get on new couch we bought a roll of the clear plastic carpet protector (with the spikes on the bottom) we cut to size and put on couch (spikes up) when we arent home- slip under couch when home and using room
worked wonders - but dogs keep checking to see if its still there
