NJ Train buff question

Does anyone no why the new bi-modal trains drop their pantograph after arriving at Newark Broad on their way to Hoboken even though there are overhead wires all the way to Hoboken?

Perhaps this is done in that section of tracks just beyond the  NJ Turnpike where the trains seem to switch into a different set of tracks and electricity.  That stretch can be a location where our trains lose power and stall.

there used to be a poster on MOL who knew a lot about our trains. Unfortunately, I don't recall his online name.

Toward the end of this wiki article in mentions NJ Transit immoral trains.  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro-diesel_locomotive

"Immoral" trains? LOL! @dk50b is the poster who used to work for NJ Transit and knows all about the trains. ETA: it does not appear that he has posted on MOL for over a year.
