Paying ransom for hostages.

This was discussed in the "Rose Garden" thread but I thought it best to take it elsewhere.

I went back and forth between the vote shown on C Span and MSNBC. It was one of the most emotional issues we have had for weeks.

My first reaction to the sanitary conditions was to suggest mailing toothbrushes and soap to Mitch or Rep. Texas Michael Burgess who argued petulantly with Chris Hayes about the good care these children are receiving. He challenged it was all made up because we hate Trump, but we should get ready because he will be our president for another 4 years.

Later, it was reported that people were showing up at the facility with toothpaste, soap etc. and being told they had plenty and donations were not acceptable.

Thanks. I avoid that Rose Garden thread, but interested to hear more about this.

 You are very wise.

The Rose Garden thread is not the usual MOL soapbox echo chamber that's for sure.

I do not find other threads to be "echo chambers". Certainly the "Candidates" thread is not such.

The "Rose Garden" thread is mostly the originator posting Republican talking points and then refusing to defend them when challenged.

True. While most MOL threads feature lots of voices, the Rose Garden is mainly a single poster who seems to only be able to hear the echo of her own voice. It's a peculiar sort of deafness and blindness that's rather amazing to witness.

like those that suffer from TDS.

If TDS means Trump Derangement Syndrome there are very good reasons for "suffering" from that. It arises from watching him over the years and especially over the years since he decided to run for President.

He is a racist or, even worse, uses racism  for political benefits. He uses religious prejudice the same way. He has no respect for women. He has almost no respect for the Law. He engages in childish name calling. In business he cheated people. He seems to love despicable dictators.

Those who don't suffer from TDS are the ones who have a problem.

But if you have something positive to say about him then say it.

And you.  I don't let a tweeting twit buffoon cloud my perspective and prefer discussing ideas rather than people with or without flawed personalities.

TDS, right.  Because there are no rational reasons for believing Donald Trump is a terrible human being.

"No respect for women."  You pulled your punch.  There is more than a preponderance of evidence that Trump is a rapist.

Well this thread went downhill relatively quickly. It's the age of Trump! He's gotten into our brains!

Exactly why I don't even open it any more.

Yes, it is quite shocking what those scoundrels get up to in that thread.
