I also don't know what it is. Like Joy says, once it blooms it'll be easier to id the plant.
I thought Bachelor Buttons were annuals and didn't realize they could grow so much so early in the season.
The bud does look like bachelor buttons, but I would put (a very small amount of) money on spiderwort because of the leaves. However, wait and see is the smart bet.
If it is Bachelor Buttons, it'll soon have beautiful blue flowers. ETA - it does look like Spiderwort. If it was daylight outside I'd take a pic of my spiderwort and post it for comparison.
Thanks, all. I'm hoping for Bachelor Buttons, and there's a good chance that's what it is, because I planted some in the general vicinity last year. I didn't expect the plant to get so lanky and take so long to bloom, so I started to doubt. Fingers crossed.
