Prepping steam boiler for off season

This may have come up before.  Over the years, I've read inconsistent advice about what, if anything, you should do to prep your steam heat boiler for the off season.  Leave it alone?  Drain the gunk out one more time and then fill to normal water level?  "Flood it" in some way I don't understand?  Leave the tank empty?  What?

Leave it alone. The water in the tank has a lower level of oxygen than fresh input water would, and is therefore less corrosive.  You'll get the gunk out in the fall when you have it serviced.

My lazy man kind of advice.  I actually read somewhere that the gunky water is less corrosive than fresh water.
