Prospect Secret Shoppe Returns!

This favorite annual event is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th this year! All children ages pre-school through grade 5 are invited to shop in secret for gifts for their family and friends. Teen-aged and adult “elves” will be on hand to guide and assist the children with their selections. Prices range from $2.00 to $9.00. Free gift wrapping is included!

While the children shop, waiting adults are invited to gather for light refreshments and warm fellowship in the Burnett Room (church parlor.)

Gifts include toys, jewelry, gadgets, teacher gifts, decorative items and others.  All members of the community are invited to participate.

Is $9 the maximum amount of money you give the kids to buy something?

Most kids come with a list of several family members, friends, etc. to shop for so they usually have more than that with them.  Since the parent or other adult who brought them is "down the hall", funds can be added if needed, in consultation with the "elf" who is helping their child to shop.

I have the most wonderful memories of Secret Shoppe !! my kids were very excited to be buying their gifts for family and friends...

...

Just wondering what the quality of the items will be?

Today!

Re quality - This is not high-end merchandise, but it is reasonable at the price points offered.  And the real point is for the children being able to select 'in secret' for their loved ones.  I have never heard any complaints.

This.

Lovely idea, and my boys were very excited to try it, but too little selection was left to be a success for my boys when we came over at 12:15 (hurtled over after synagogue youth services, actually). Don't know if that was due to low stock or picky shopping!

Oh well...will have to do the two-parent trip to normal stores to do their Hanukkah shopping

Where can one contact the organizers for suggestions about next year's Secret Santa program?

My daughter had a wonderful time. Such a lovely and low key event. Thanks for putting it on!

We're hoping to go next year. My kid is still wary of strangers (not a bad thing!) but I think if I approach the idea differently next year, it may work better.

Lower stock at 12:15 was due to the wild success of the event which began at 9:am.  I volunteered as a "cashier" this year and can confirm it was quite busy!!!

This!

A glittery-silver wallet was found after the Secret Shoppe ended.  See photos below.  The only thing in it when found was a single 50-cent coin.  If anyone claims it, please PM me.
