Snow squalls possible this afternoon

A few snow squalls are currently to our west but heading this way. If they hold together, they could produce some quick bursts of intense snowfall and lessened visibility. The snow would be brief and won't produce much accumulation, but could complicate travel for a short time. Given that these types of squalls are similar in nature to thunderstorms (there's no thunder/lightning with these, but the mechanisms for their formation are similar), they tend to be transient in nature and are a bit unpredictable. Best to keep an eye out though.

To give a sense of that transience, here’s a radar loop showing the first round of squalls form then die on approach. Hopefully the GIF plays.

Everyone get the snow squall warning until 4:15?

Yes. And now I am scared to drive home. I hate driving anyway but especially when there is "weather."

But I also have a hard time driving after dark. What should I do??

Everyone in my office got the alert at the same time and I’ve never felt more popular.

How long is this supposed to last?

Sorry, original response here was considering NYC where I am. I’d bet a half hour or so. Maybe some spotty snow showers after but the heavy stuff should clear relatively quickly.

Not sure where this came from but a friend forwarded it to me. Pretty wild view from a webcam.

Matches up with the view from 26th st. It was all black looking uptown and towards NJ but essentially sunny looking crosstown and downtown. I didn't get up and take a picture though (never works out well enough through the glass and I was too lazy to go up to the roof!)

Pretty amazing time lapse of the snow coming in from top of the rock: https://twitter.com/tweetermore/status/1207412112244576258?s=21

Looks a bit further north than that to me, but perhaps. I’m on 23rd and experienced the same. Pretty cool.

It's way further north than that. I was saying I saw that same scene from a different angle.
