Stormy Sues Trump

ah, potential misuse of campaign funds. That makes sense.

I think it is more a matter of undisclosed donations (the money the lawyer paid out of his own pocket to cover up this damaging affair).

Either an undisclosed contribution by the lawyer, or perhaps, if there was an agreement for reimbursement, an undisclosed contribution by Trump to his own campaign.

I think this is like when there is bad news about the economy, and it doesn't really affect stocks.  The commentators say that the market had already taken the expected bad news into account.  So Trump voters had already taken the fact that he was a cheating creep into account when they voted for him.

I think every one of these episodes peels supporters away.  Maybe not the core supporters, maybe not massive defections, but some.  The incorrigible robotic supporters are the ones who go on the internet screaming "fake news."   The queasy, on the fence from the beginning supporters don't do as much screaming.   But they vote.

This  poll,. Indicates more are sticking with him than deserting

What you say is true but it doesn't account for a 10 point jump in his approval rating.

Reading the article you posted, the jump is in January, after the tax bill but before major Stormy news was out there.

he’s been slightly less insane lately (or at least quieter). And his response (at least in words) to the gun control debate was better than I expected.

Tweeting that trade wars are good isn't exactly less insane.

While I cannot be sure there were 70,000 of them, I remain convinced there are legions of men who wished -- and still may wish -- that they could BE the man living in the White House. He has casinos (sort of), planes and hotels and skyscrapers all over the world with his name on them, trophy wives, children insanely loyal to him, gets to play golf whoever he wants to...AND he got to see porn stars naked? I mean, it's disgusting to us "normal" folks, but I think there's a segment of the population green with envy. (Ugh.)

Well, to be completely fair, anyone can see porn stars naked.

Well, maybe he’s said fewer insane stuff past few weeks. Down to 10 things a day instead of 12. Maybe not

I think most people would like to be so rich that they aren't subject to the same rules as working stiffs.  How many people in this situation would, at the age of 70, try to do something meaningful with their money versus the number that would chose to be still be self-absorbed pigs I cannot say.

A normal person, rich or not so rich, 70 or 50 or any age would see being POTUS as doing something meaningful and would us it for that purpose.

And therein lies the current tragedy.

He has a vulgar 10 year old boy's idea of what the good life is.  Casinos, gold plated things, bimbos, giant ostentatious yachts like you see in movies.  I'm capable of envy but I always have and always will just laugh at the guy.

We had Tricky Dick, and we had Slick Willie, but no one is as slippery as the Tweeter in Chief.

It may be a deliberate strategy for him to have an endless stream of outrageous things so the bad things get buried and then shrugged off.

She sued him on March 5th. Check those numbers and those for March 7th now that the tax bill is no longer involved

I'm not sure if we're agreeing or disagreeing.  I looked at the webpage you indicated, and from their chart he's doing worse lately (see picture attached).

anyone have any guesses why she’s doing this?  Does she want to write a book?   Is it just about keeping current to attract guys to her appearances?

wouldn't you want to bring down this sack of ssshhh if you could? Oh and make some $ doing it?

This isn't just Stormy Daniels' word vs. that of Trump. Paragraph 2.1 of the recitals in the "Hush" agreement refers to "still images and/or text messages" which Daniels has in her possession, which she agrees to turn over to Trump and not divulge to third parties.

I think I heard the word "paternity" mentioned in one news report of this mess. It suggests that Donnie didn't wear a rain coat when he was catting around. Also, there could be the possibility that Trump, a/k/a "David Dennison," sent Stormy pics of his junk.   zipper

Everything else aside, I find it strange that the attorney did not redact the bank account information for the wire.

In normal times, I abhor public scrutiny of private sex lives.  But these are not normal times and I don't believe we will have normal times until Trump is gone and is seen as a failure and a fraud.  Worldwide, we are in an era of angry illiberal populism, that is pushing into power crude, instinctively anti-democratic, posturing tough guys like Trump.  At this point, any bad news cycle for him is good for the country.

Yep.  Trump needs to go or at least be emasculated by a strong Democratic showing in 2018.  The damage he is doing to our future is getting rather scary.

1) The story is as much about Michael Cohen as it is about Trump.

2) If Stormy Daniels weren't suing Trump she would be a spokeswoman for him on Fox News.

Cohen may be the biggest loser.  His actions and words are bizarre given that he is a lawyer.

bub,

You are a litigator. What is a "secret" injunctive order from an arbitrator? How can it be enforced except through a Court proceeding? And how can there be arbitration without both parties participating?

Have you ever heard of such proceedings?

Even assuming the agreement gave the arbitrator authority to issue temporary emergency relief, like a preliminary injunction, the practical reality is that the arbitrator has no "teeth."  A successful party would have to run to court and ask it to enforce the order for it to really have any weight behind it.  This is true even for the ultimate victory in an arbitration.   If an arbitrator gives you a final award of $X, you have to go to court to get it "confirmed" and turned into a judgment that you can then enforce.  Final arbitration decisions are confirmed all the time in court.  Courts are almost blindly deferential to final arbitration decisions. Confirmation of preliminary, emergency orders like what Cohen got are less common and less clear.  I don't know that a court will blindly respect the order or will weigh the (relatively tough) factors courts usually consider in deciding whether to issue PIs, especially one that was obtained ex parte.

You confirmed my instinctive thoughts. Thanks.

Trump had a bedroom created for him in the WH residence. Just for him. He also directed that a lock be put on his bedroom door that only he has the key for.

The secret service objected. The demanded they also be given key access.
