The Chit Chat Diner is coming. Soon?

We see the site of the new Chit Chat Diner, just across the quarry from our place, up the hill & around the corner on ERA... Watching it ever-so-slowly rise from the ground has been tantalizing, but also very annoying. Optimistically, it'll be as over-the-top as its Hackensack parent! Check it out...

Since I cannot extend my holiday wishes to the staff of the yet-to-open Chit Chat Diner, I'll go for my favorite outta town places...

Not exactly as walkable for me, but it's minutes away. And yes, if it's as over the top as it's H'sack parent the corned beef and eggs will be spectacular*

* Trying really hard to avoid corned beef and eggs will be something to talk about

:rimshot:

Is this in the spot of the old ... Eagle Rock Diner? I don't remember if that was the name or not.

Anyway, glad to hear a quality diner is coming to WO - we need one.

We won't know if its a quality diner until it gets there.

The Ritz?  Haven't been there in years.

eta - Really never think of it. If Soda recommends it, it must be good.

Suggested menu items: The M-F Bkfst Special (a great deal!), Marion's Chopped Salad, The Burgers, Sandwiches, & Baked Goods...

BTW: I'm hoping to try Chit Chat's Bkfst Menu by sometime in February.

The Ritz does (at least they did) a nice kasha varnishkes.  Though their halibut is not halibut (at least it wasn't the 1 time I ordered it -  years ago - the cook claimed it was "baby halibut",  when queried). Agree with the baked goods assessment. Do they still have the excellent cucumber salad on all the tables?  Pretty much everything is/was (it's probably  been 10 years) good there.

soda: is that a helipad next to the 2 tennis courts?

A) Affirmative on the "Health Salad" & your overall memory-cured assessments, and

2) In the words of Obiwan, "That's no helipad... It's A PUTTING GREEN..."

Looked at the pictures and I have to say that the checkerboard motif is very annoying.  They could use an interior/exterior decorator.

For those of you who've not driven by during construction...

lol.

soda, you must have a lot of time on your hands.

I drove by it today.  Looks like they tore down the Eagle Rock Diner to build it.  Hope it looks better than what they replaced Pal's Diner with.

pretty soon there'll be a CVS/Walgreens on every corner.

I'm taking physical therapy right next door to the diner location.

Despite the architectural and gustatory wonder that was Pals Cabin, I (who loved that old place) patronize the new CVS lots more than I would Pals, were it still there...

Of course, you can still get some of Pals more famous menu items (mushroom soup, grilled redwood, burgers, etc) at Fairchild's in Roseland, if you're feeling nostalgic and not too picky on serving heft.

BTW: Ronny (of "Jack & Ronny" fame, late of Town Hall Deli) is deli manager at Fairchild's, turning out - I can attest - much exemplary fare. Alas, though, Fairchild's Sloppy Joes are mere ghosts of their THD betters...

Note: Prices below reflect the passage of time.

Back on topic: Anyone know if the Chit Chat will have a liquor license, like the Mother Ship in Hackensack?

If this thread were to have a logo...

one of the weirdest diners I've ever seen.  Kinda like Medieval Times meets NJ

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
