The Soulful Mr T spinning LIVE !!

For those of you that enjoyed my musical foray on the radio in the Fall, and those that missed it, I am DJing two upcoming events.

This Friday, the 5th of June, beginning at 5pm, I will be spinning fun and interesting tracks between the bands at 'Groove on Grove,' a concert event in Jersey City, at the Grove Street PATH plaza. (Click on the flyer below.) The bands are terrific and I'll be playing new rock, some funk, Latin, African and, of course some wonderful covers, including some Beatles covers that you have not heard.

If you've heard me DJ before, you know I do not play Top 40 nor well-known hits. No Michael Jackson. No Taylor Swift. No Beyonce. No Mumfords, no Avetts, and no, it won't be All About That Bass. You won't have heard most of what I play but you will be swept up in the rhythmic and thematic charisma of it all. I do play lots of cover tunes.

Then, I will be doing the same thing at Maplewoodstock, playing cool musical interludes between the terrific line-up of bands on July 11th and 12th. The two days will allow me to stretch out a bit and play a few themed and improvised sets, flowing, from one track to another, in a scintillating way, for your groovy festival enjoyment.

At both events, I'll have a sign-up sheet so you can request the playlist for your ongoing delectation.

As always, The Soulful Mr T will take all of your requests. However, he will not play any of them.

I look forward to seeing you at one of these events. Please come over and say Hello and say you saw this.

Here's a taste of one of the bands that will be performing in Jersey City at 'Groove on Grove." Nobuko Takamen and his trio performing 'One Big Shot.' He's such an amazing guitar talent; I can't wait to see him live.

Ditto. Anyone who references Jennifer Trynin has an insanely deep music collection...

Cue,

I first heard Jennifer Trynin on a Harry Nilsson tribute CD called "For The Love of Harry" Everyone Sings Harry Nilsson." She does "Mournin' Glory Story." You can hear it here: https://youtu.be/enJzIG7_x7o

If you like Harry Nilsson's music (and how could you not?) see if you can find the CD. It's soooo good. Performers include Ringo Starr, Randy Newman, Ron Sexsmith, Richard Barone, Jimmy Webb, Marshall Crenshaw, Aimee Mann, Joe Ely, and many more. I've seen the CD in cut-out bins here and there.

I also love Trynin's song "Better Than Nothing." Maybe I'll play that one at Maplewoodstock.

Another opportunity to sway and groove to the charismatic mixes of The Soulful Mr T :

Saturday night I'll be mixing musical magic at The Bistro (in Grove Street Plaza) in Jersey City from 10pm -2:15am.

Come say hello.

ETA: Now looks like Friday and Saturday nights at the Bistro in Jersey City.

If you're in JC tonight, I'm starting around 10.
