The Walking Dead Convention

took the TWD obsessed nephew to Waljer Stalker con this weekend. It was absolutely packed and it was astounding how much $ fans spent to see, take pics and get autographs from the cast ( my nephew included). What a goldmine!  But the cast was really fun and nice and the kid had the time of his life. For all the fans, a few pics.

theres 5-10 "cons" for some aspect of "fandom" pretty much every single weekend. This weekend alone walker stalker, wintercon at the Resorts world casino and Steel city con in Pittsburgh were all going on in this region.

Steel City had the actors who played Norm and Cliff from Cheers, William Katt from the Greatest American Hero, Paul Sorvino , Ric Flair and a handful of b through d list celebs all charging $25-60 for autographed pics or merch. It was nuts watching people drop $60 for a pic with Flair and a signed 8x10. (I was shooting pics for a friend's website fri/sat)

I have never seen anything like this. There must have been 1000 people snaked around the building to get in right at 10am. It was a lot of teens too, dropping the same -$40-100 per cast member for photo or autograph. Definitely got my gears turning about renting vendor space. I think the right merchandise would have killed. Quite a few vendors weren't around today with a sign on the table saying "Sold out". He had such a great time and he sort of hoardes his $ so, although crazy, it was kind of fun to see him let loose a little bit.

Aw, this is awesome! I'm glad he had a good time.
