Thought that I would start a thread that is both fun and thought-provoking.  Feel free to add on what you think should be a law (or a regulation, statute or ordinance).

I will start this thread with, there should/ought to  be a law that: prohibits smoking in private vehicles while children are present (a pet peeve of my own childhood).

Admittedly small pet peeve:  People who feel the need to have their sprinklers water the curb strip grass should have to do so in the middle of the night.  Typically, the sprinklers come on in the morning around the time people are heading to work or school or walking the dog (me), forcing all to cross the street or get wet.  A small thing but its so presumptuous or unthinking of them.  A 5 to 10 year sentence seems reasonable.

 I had a guy in a BMW SUV almost hit me (in my car) yesterday because he was trying to avoid a sprinkler that was spraying into the street. Sheesh! It's water, not acid.

Using a sprinkler when it's raining out should get a fine.

There oughta be a law to prohibit drivers on Maplewood Avenue from making a U-turn into parking spaces on the opposite side of the street.

There oughta be a law outlawing the traffic hazard creating, yield to pedestrian signs in the middle of streets.

Unless you are within x miles of the ocean, men have to wear shoes in public.  I don’t want to see your damn feet.

 Yes, and that's why I didn't get there first.   

There ought to be a law against wearing a t shirt with the name of a vacation spot when you are there (e.g. Long Beach Island).  A corollary is that couples wearing the same vacation spot t shirt at the same time need to be placed in immediate detention.

there NEEDS to be a law against sitting in the aisle seat on NJT and blocking the window seat.  I always ask for that seat on principle

Makes me think of my peaceful days on Pierson Rd. that were interrupted by the awful sounds and smells of those damn leaf blowers and weed wackers. That disturbance (the burnt  oil, the roar of those nasty little motors) was nerve-wracking. But annielou is right!

Agreed!

There ought to be a law against wearing a graphic t-shirt and then asking the person who tries to read it what the **** they are looking at.

There ought to be a law against grown men sagging their pants, walking around in public with boxers showing, with a belt no less. Ugh. 

There ought to be a law against participating in threads like this.

 I sometimes take the aisle seat on a three seater because I'm only going a few stops and don't want to be trapped by someone wearing headphones or falling asleep on in their seat. I'm more than happy to get up and let someone else in if they want it.
