Tropical Storm Nate here Sunday Night & Monday (Oct 8 & 9)

Now in the gulf, tropical storm Nate is expected to make landfall as a cat 1 hurricane in the Mississippi delta area of Louisiana Sunday.

Nate could then run up the west side of the Appalachian Mountians, cross through Pennsylvanian, and drop 1 - 4" of rain on us around Tuesday morning.

At this time this is mainly a rain event for MAPSO, but there is some chance of gusty winds, too.

Right now we need the rain.

Very much so.  But 4" in 24 hours would not be the best way to get it.

For the record, although we are 'abnormally dry' (official category) we are not yet in a drought condition.

The remains of hurricane Nate will pass north of our area tonight (Sunday) and Monday.   Effects here will be rain (+/- 1"), possibly a thunderstorm or two, and some wind (15 - 25  mph with gusts to 35 possible in storms).  North and west of our area could see up to 4".

Do you know what time it is due to arrive and if it will affect flights ?

Rain tonight after midnight and through the day tomorrow, with highest chances of storms/heavy rainfall very eary Monday morning and mid afternoon Monday.  Winds pick up in the afternoon and evening Monday.

Expect flight delays (more likely than cancellations) but understanding the workings of the airlines is beyond my pay grade.

I can say with certainty that I've never experienced a Columbus Day as humid as this one.

In fact if you added up the humidity levels of all my previous Columbus Days (all 47 of 'em), I reckon today's humidity might top that number.

Max, Thanks for putting the date in the header. Makes it easier for me to understand.

This has been the most disgusting day of the year, so far.
