At this time, the models are in good agreement that the worst of Tuesday's (11/12) storm will be north and east of the MAPSO area. By this I mean (1) the major temperature drop will occur after the rain ends Tuesday afternoon, and (2) the heaviest precipitation will occur in New England. While things could change the signal has been for little or no snow, and no accumulation, for a couple of days now.
Do expect possibly record-setting cold Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Really? again? I’m glad you are happy with snow and cold. Some of us hate snow and prefer hot. Geesh. Are you going to argue about it every f-ing time? It’s so childish.

Not arguing. Just presenting another perspective. Nothing like a crisp Fall day to put some pep in your step!
It’s supposed to be 20 degrees tomorrow night and Weds, you dolt. That’s not Fall crisp weather. It’s February weather in early November and it’s pretty alarming and jarring.

In what sense is it "alarming"? It gets cold in November sometimes. We should enjoy it. Our grandchildren will only be able to read about it in history books.
Forecast this morning (Tuesday 11/12) has dried out a little but basically remains on track.
Rain arriving shortly will continue for a few hours this morning ending late morning or early afternoon. Some snow may mix in at the end with little or no accumulation. Temps dropping throughout the day will fall below freezing by early evening but after the precipitation has stopped. Temps keep dropping tonight into the low 20s or high teens. Tomorrow high low 30s.

Really nothing all that alarming about this. These types of systems aren't unheard of this time of year.
A bit jarring yes, but there are always aberrational weather events. Like that freak snowstorm last November. And as they say in the sports world, records are made to be broken, and that goes for temperatures too.
Over on my fb weather page there has been a mild level of freakout I have been trying to manage down. People see an analogy to last year's ice storm, even though there is little similarity except in the barest of facts (rain ahead of a cold front). Some people had really traumatic experiences last year and are nervous. The media are not helping.
So, if this is so “business as usual” why will the cold break so many records? I’m not “alarmed” in the sense of fear just surprised it’ll be THIS cold THIS early. (Surprised and disgusted, frankly).
Anyways, is the rain part of this over? Trying to pack for 3 days in the city and the less to carry, the better!

Because the records are daily records. They don't really speak to anything on a larger scale. If this happened tomorrow or the next day for instance, the number of broken records would be different.

The rain part is largely ending/over.
Kudo's to WxN for refraining from using the word "dolt" in her response.

Perhaps Klinker and conandrob240 could refrain from hijacking the next weather thread?
I agree it's annoying to have someone constantly asking for their own personal forecast or commenting on their travel plans. But it is even more annoying to have to scroll through multiple juvenile comments.
Ideally the only comments on the weather thread would be updates from the informed forecasters.
No, I just think you’re being a dick to me. Otherwise, I’m just fine.
I am fully on board for the weather threads being locked to all comments except by the weather professionals. I didn’t realize that was the rule. Sounds reasonable to me.
On another note, it’s ridiculously cold out here. No one I’ve encountered is very happy about it. And the nyc streets are covered in salt. I guess as a pre-caution from earlier? Or is more coming?
