Waste Management - who to contact?

I've had it with Waste Management. We are scheduled for Monday pickups.  Since they don't pick up on Labor Day, they were supposed to pickup on Thursday.  Never came.  We complained and we were assured they would pick up on Friday.  Never came.  My 2 weeks of trash (some of which now has to just sit out in the rain because my trash cans are overflowing) still has not been picked up.  This is not the first time something like this has happened.

I've called Waste Management to complain multiple times with false assurances that they'll pick up my garbage.  Is there someone in the town who can help?  I contacted Robert Roe from the Health Department previously when WM would stage garbage in front of my house.  He was super helpful but I'm not sure if he would be the best contact.  Would the TC care about something like this?  I don't want to waste my time emailing them if it's not something they can help with.

downlod the WM app or use the online feature.  has a missed pickup prompt.  very helpful.

unfortunately the alternative is waste industries who use pick up trucks as garbage trucks.

I believe that the Maplewood DPW would be the contact point for complaints.

Monday/Thursday pick-up is an on-going problem because WM always cancels holiday pick-ups rather than delaying pick-up to the following day.  With all of the statutorily defined holidays on Mondays and Thursdays, persons in the Monday/Thursday pick-up area get significantly fewer pick-ups per year than persons in the Tuesday/Friday or Wednesday/Saturday zones.  Add in street closures and severe weather conditions and you have the sort of problem described by the OP.

To answer OP's question, Bob Roe is probably the best person in town government to contact if you are having chronic problems with trash pick-up.  DPW won't help because, unlike recycling which is a town contract, homeowners contract individually with WM or WI.  TC may help but only with a major issue, such as town-wide garbage staging, rather than occasional missed pick-ups at a single address.  You can also try calling the phone number on your WM bill.  I have found that to be the most helpful approach the few times I have had trash pick-up issues.

Some of my neighbors use Waste Industries instead.

we use and are happy with waste industries

I had a similar issue with Waste Industries our first month in our new house, and of course it was during the heat of this past summer. It got to the point where I called every day, After leaving several messages, I finally spoke with a supervisor. I put her name in my contacts and if it happens again I'll speak with her directly, but thank goodness so far, they've been consistent since the initial issues.

I used to use Waste Management for many years. Recently switched to Waste Industries and have been mostly satisfied. I have the yard waste removal service, and they never came to pick up this past Friday. Repeated calls to the Maplewood Waste Industries were never answered, not even a voicemail option. so I called the Regional Industries number, which is who actually bills. Got through and the pick up finally happened. They had a fishy answer about the missed pick up ("something was wrong with the trucks") and could not explain why no one was answering calls for 2 days at the Maplewood number. Weird. But at least the pick up happened. And now I have a second number to call if there's a problem.
