Weed or... Not Weed?

Can you identify the plant in the front of this photo? It's the one with three lobes. Behind that is some butter crunch lettuce. Which is taking its sweet time.  I haven't pulled the unidentified botanical object out yet because I don't know if it's something that I want. I do not remember planting it, but it's possible my daughter could've gotten a hold of some seeds and stuck them in there.

It's a viscous, nasty, ever expanding weed - pull it.

Weed.  Don't know what it is called.

Looks like what my mum called an aluminium creeper. With a fuzzy blue flower. Probably an alum or something; flowers are usually multi florets, white, purple, pink or blue.

I have friends who are locavores and foragers. They would pick this for weed control, but would use the leaves in a salad, or steamed with spinach greens. You can always check with a nursery. 

Definition of  a weed: anything that grows where you don't want it to.  

It's not the kinda weed a teenager would have seeded.
