Excerpt from Wikipedia Article on Four Olds: The Four Olds or the Four Old Things (simplified Chinese: 四旧; traditional Chinese: 四舊; pinyin: sì jiù) was a term used during the Cultural Revolution by the student-led Red Guards in the People's Republic of China in reference to the pre-communist elements of Chinese culture they attempted to destroy. The Four Olds were: Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Customs, and Old Habits (Chinese: Jiù Sīxiǎng 旧思想, Jiù Wénhuà 旧文化, Jiù Fēngsú 旧风俗, and Jiù Xíguàn 旧习惯).[1] The campaign to destroy the Four Olds began in Beijing on August 19, 1966 (the "Red August", during which a massacre also took place in Beijing[2]), shortly after the launch of the Cultural Revolution.[3]
I hope the last day has helped you "catch my drift" about the balloon and "usual gasbags" in the news.
I guess somewhat, but also would be nice to see you actually post your own perspective/opinion about something, rather than just mocking what others have to say.
This is one of those "Kafka Traps". If I make a comment disagreeing with your description of my posts on the MOL, you can say, "Proves my point!"

how about I disagree?
the notion that you don't often share your own perspective or opinion on MOL is pretty absurd. If anyone reads the politics section often, they should have a pretty clear idea of your POV on a whole array of issues.

That might give him the idea that I give a cr*p about what he thinks.
I’ll find time to read the 60-odd posts I’ve missed while daily life spins on (my house guest is taking up lots of time )
We have some wonderful satirical newspapers here that I think a lot of you would enjoy. Even if you’re just skimming the headlines… (remember Peter Dutton is our ‘alternative Prime Minister’ but most of us see him as devoid of personality and lacking empathy. He’s an ex-cop)
Ron DeSantis has been right more often than wrong. His life story checks a lot of boxes:
Working class family
Harvard and Yale by attendance, not family
military service
thinks on his feet , etc
I knew you would throw trumpenstein under the bus as soon as DeSantis started to rise up in the political scene. You seem to like men telling you what to do. Why do I always get this image of Edith when I see your posts?

Turns out the 200 foot tall balloon was filled with electronic spyware — no laughing matter!
I for one can't believe the Chinese spy balloon was filled with spyware.
And yet an actual laughing matter is that the only white balloon in congress that day was the one brought in by the woman whose husband just divorced her because she kept cheating on him with a polyamorous tantric sex guru.
Chair of House Oversight Committee suggested the balloon might contain bio-weapons, so it makes perfect sense that GOPers wanted to shoot it down over Montana...to distribute bio-weapons evenly over the state.

if only Ted Cruz had been in the military. So close. His Dad being involved in JFK's assassination as well as his ugly wife probably hurt his chances as well.
That's two more shoot downs than occurred in the entirety of the previous administration.
Your attitude perplexes me. Given the well publicized Republican concerns (some might say hysteria) that the earlier balloon was some sort of bio-weapon, would you have been happier if Biden had shot it down over Bozeman, Montana?

no… maybe San Francisco… right over the tent cities…
