The organizers of the St. Patrick's Parade on Staten Island seem dead set on excluding LGBTQ organizations and banned Miss Staten Island because she recently came out as bisexual. It sounds like there are several local leaders/politicians pushing for change.
STATEN ISLAND -- Year after year, the Staten Island Pride Center has been barred by parade organizers from marching in the annual St. Patrick’s Parade parade with its banner.
This year, a growing number of Island Democrats, Republicans and civic leaders came together to sit out the parade and stand with the Pride Center. Many others were told by parade organizers they could not march because of their visible support of Pride.
