DUMP TRUMP (previously 2020 candidates)

A really funny joke would be if tomorrow he and Paul Manafort got together and had Poroshenko arrested and jailed on some phony charges and left there for a few years. I would LOL at that one.

What’s the over/under on Nan posts afterwards on how Bernie was mistreated?

Atta' boy - argument-you-can't-refute alert.  Time to toss an ad hominem you can be sure the group will cheer, and scurry off.

Pipe down and watch your town halls tomorrow night.

As someone who doesn't particularly have a horse in the race, I think it is a little amusing that Nan cares enough about Mayor Pete to spend so much time attacking him. To be honest, I just don't get it.  Buttigieg isn't fishing in Bernie's pool. At this point, their interests don't really seem to conflict.  If anything, he's just weakening Great Uncle Grabby (a noble cause if ever there was one).
You are right, as Buttigeig is a corporate dem with a centrist-right position. BUT, I will explain again what I just explained a few posts ago--Buttigeig was found to be on a secret committee formed to sabotage Sanders' candidacy:

Wait, you are saying that Buttigieg (who is running for the same nomination Bernie is running for) secretly doesn't want Bernie to win? Isn't that like saying that the Yankees secretly don't want the Red Sox to win the American League East?

No, I am saying he is working in an unethical manner to sabotage his opponent. It's more like Team Tonya Harding planning to kneecap Team Nancy Kerrigan.  The Democratic nomination is supposed to be a neutral race.  The Dem leadership (Nancy & Chuck) are not supposed to be meeting in secret with the leading Dem think tank leader (Nera), a donor and ONE of the presidential candidates (Pete) to plot the destruction of another candidate's campaign.  This is highly unethical and looks bad for all involved.

It also helps Trump because if they destroy Bernie's campaign, his supporters are not going to be just happy to vote for the nominee--especially if it is Pete. Also, I think Bernie has a better chance against Trump.  Buttigeig's career as mayor looks to many as though he was indifferent to the poor and homeless--so it will make it more difficult for him to call that out on Trump.  Talking about your super-duper sewer and pothole apps can only get you so far.

What exactly is "unethical" about it? They see someone who is deemed a threat (however they define it) and they are working to diminish that threat.

You say the "The Democratic nomination is supposed to be a neutral race." What does that even mean? Neutral by what standard? What is a neutral race?

And no one is meeting "in secret". If it was a secret, we wouldn't know about it.

I mean, sure, it would be great if there was no politics in politics, but that's not terribly realistic.

Comedian wins Ukraine presidential election against the incumbent who said "I'm running against Putin."
Looking forward to Jimmy Dore's reaction.

Isn't the comedian also anti-Putin?  The comedian just didn't make Putin his central issue and isn't as old as Poroshenko.  Kind of like Mayor Pete, who blusters at "millionaires and billionaires" (like Trump) every third sentence out of his mouth, no?

p.s. Mayor Pete is a better comedian than Jimmy Bore.

awww, lil' basil made a funny!

nan is under the impression that winning by 80% of the vote means you're doing a bad job as mayor.

If I create an Ignore Nan app I bet I could get 80% of people to use it here.

It would be interesting to discuss the candidates in a context other than what they are secretly doing to sabotage Bernie and Tulsi.  I mean, I get it, the Center (Right) hates the Left and the Left hates the Right and that schism defines a lot of what happens in the Party but that's not all thats happening in this election.

Where do all these candidates stand on Russia by the way?

If this was the South a while back, I can see you getting 80% on board a different solution to 'threats' to the community.

If you could configure it to filter out her other persona gvico and paulsurovell it would easily go up to over 90%

You're the expert

While I get that you don't get to say FU to someone on this board (as you said, it isn't NJ.com), I for one don't want nan banned, suspended or filtered out. Neither would I wish that on anyone here, including people we're just going to pretend joined 14 years ago and somehow felt compelled to start participating only in the politics section April 1st. But particularly nan.

If you wish to relegate politics to a sub-forum, so we can all participate in this love-fest without clogging up the homepage, I completely understand, but there has to be a way we can engage in these conversations when we must, even if it's only to vent our frustrations at the general effed-uppedness of the current political climate. While I do tend to disagree fundamentally with many of the positions raised here, by many posters, and while I do have to shake my head often at positions I would support were it not for the tone of the poster, I honestly find this to be one of the better forums I've belonged to for discussing politics and I've learned more from my neighbors and former neighbors here that it would a real shame to lose it.

I sure hope you weren't reading that last sentence out loud to anyone.

Was Nan banned?  I also am against banning Nan although I believe she does our common cause a disservice with some of her posts.

More from Senator Warren:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/22/elizabeth-warren-student-loan-debt-1284286

The call for canceling hundreds of billions of dollars in outstanding student debt is the latest example of Warren finding spots to run to the left of Sanders and ways to potentially entice progressive voters who voted for the self-described democratic socialist in 2016. The Vermont senator, who will also participate in Monday night’s forum in New Hampshire, continues to easily lead Warren in the polls and fundraising.

In recent months, Warren distinguished herself from Sanders with calls to abolish the Senate filibuster and the Electoral College, as well as first endorsing a long-standing House bill to study reparations for slavery.

In January, she also called for an “ultramillionaire tax” that would annually tax wealth above $50 million an extra 2 percent with an additional 1 percent tax on wealth over $1 billion. Sanders has also called for taxing the wealthy but he has not called for a similar “wealth tax.” Warren intends to pay for her high-cost education proposals — which she estimates will cost $1.25 billion over the next decade — as well as a recent child care overhaul through this tax.

Though Warren’s campaign has been in the middle of the pack in raising money and polling, she has set the pace on policy. Her steady clip of far-reaching overhauls on everything from trust-busting big tech companies to establishing a government agency to produce generic pharmaceutical drugs has been a centerpiece of the senator’s candidacy.

I would have thought you'd be more interested in a comedian's reaction.

Warren should be a progressive's wet dream at this point. Move out of the way Bernie. She's whipping you policy wise.

Uh...thanks?...for the left handed support for free speech on master David's farm?

As for rest - maybe ease up on binge watching "The Americans" a bit?

No it's not, and we're all mighty grateful for you being so good as to let us work on your farm, master dave, sir.

What can I say. I am in the entertainment business, and pretty good at it too.

Says the poster with an empty avatar.

In other news, Bernie the Milllionaire thinks that the Boston Bomber should have the right to vote.
