I got the vulture part, and the hammer-and-sickle lapel pin.  I don't know the significance of Biden as a parrot, unless that means that he just mindlessly repeats words that they give him.

Basically, I'm not really up on right-wing iconography.

I can usually figure out what these cartoonists are trying to convey. I'm just generally stumped by how these cartoons are supposed to connect to reality.

 You did good.

I try.  All it takes is getting into the MAGA mindset.

Don't try to figure out how they relate to reality.  That way lies madness.

as if EVERY VP doesn't think about taking over if the prez buys the farm.

No, but not EVERY VP has a 78 year old, frail man as her President. Sure, illness, injury, misfortune can strike anyone, anywhere. At a campaign stop yesterday, Biden announced he would take only two questions from the press!

I believe — have said it before — that Harris will play a very prominent role, as spokesperson and face of the nation on the road. She will be, essentially, a co-president. The DNC sees a win as an opportunity to break the glass ceiling with one-termer Biden in the Oval Office bunker.

So what? She"ll be great as a VP, co-president, or president.

Thanks, we got it the first time.

if a joke or a cartoon would make more sense being applied to someone else, then it's pretty stupid.  Like that last cartoon.  It would have actually made more sense with Trump as a parrot, Pence as the vulture, and a GOP elephant wearing a hammer and sickle:

  • Trump is an obese septuagenarian who just had coronavirus.  I'd be very surprised if Pence wasn't daydreaming about being behind the resolute desk.
  • It's the GOP who has Trump and Giuliani, among others poking around with shady characters in former Soviet republics.
  • It's Trump who parrots the same phrase over and over ("big, beautiful wall", "Sleepy Joe", "no one knows more about [fill in the blank]", etc., etc., etc.)

I can't help but think that if Kamala wasn't a Black woman, the MAGA paranoia about her would be non-existent.

I mean, who really cares about the VP candidate?

It all comes down to that one particular characteristic of the MAGA crowd.

 Thank you, Captain Obvious.

BTW, I think MOL should not allow racist cartoons.

4 years from now Biden will be younger than friend mtierney is now.

Aside to  DB, I think you have been dissed by the mountain man.

Since when does a vulture’s color, black, speak to racism? What I really want to find out why Biden is  a red parrot? Oh, wait a minute.....

The entire absurd attack on Harris cannot be separated from Racism. Do you believe that if Biden had picked Amy Klobuchar as his running mate she would have been characterized the same way?

While you folks want to paint the Dems as "socialists" a real socialist authored an Op-Ed in yesterday's NY Times urging actual socialists and radicals to vote for Biden? If Biden was a socialist or tool of socialists why would that be necessary?

I really do not expect answers so there is no need to tax your brain.

Now lets talk about replacing a Jewish Justice with a Roman Catholic.

I'm not sure it's as much antisemitic to replace a Jewish justice with a Catholic as it is an indication of how many of the most awful and cruel conservatives happen to be Irish-Catholic.  As someone who was raised Irish Catholic, it's extremely disturbing to me how many of the most racist, xenophobic, misogynistic and cruel conservatives are Irish Americans.  So many of them are perfect examples of the type of people who want to pull the ladder up as soon as their family climbs to the top.

Hmm. Had never thought about that.

just off the top of my head:

Brett Kavanaugh

Kellyanne Conway

Steve Bannon

Sean Hannity

Bill O'Reilly

Peter King

If I did a google search of the personnel in the Trump White House, and people in right wing media, I'm sure I'd find a lot more.

Mitch McConnell? Mick Mulvaney? Flynn? Spicer? Kayleigh MacEnany?

Klobuchar would definitely have been made subject of a cartoon — perhaps a turkey -‘‘tis the season.

Question in second paragraph: Of course avowed/real Socialists need to use a NYT platform to stir up actual socialists and radicals to get out to vote. It would be classified as necessary for any political playbook.

Your last comment is shameful of you and designed to incite.

If Biden is a massive socialist, they shouldn't need to be stirred up. That's STANV's point.

Does that apply to the socialists who rely on the NY Times?

Did you go to the link?

You should study the history of the Jews. Then you might understand how we feel.

Of course who is more typical of an Irish American politician than Joe Biden?

Can you find ONE Democrat who has criticized her Catholicism?

And I bet the Monty Python reference in that cartoon is missed by 90% of the MAGA audience for that cartoon.

Of course she can't. Classic FOX bullsiht. Change the channel, mtierney.

Originalism = keeping white men in power. (Forgot who said this).

Modern democracies don't harken back to the "good old days," except for us. A document written by slaveowners who don't let women vote cannot guide us today.

Why do CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, etc work hard every day, day in and day out, to denigrate Trump and stir the pot of ridicule for all things conservative?  Biden should have it in the bag by now.  Yet, Fox News is to be feared.

They report what Trump says and does, that's their job.
