max w, thanks for posting that email! I really enjoyed reading (something different) about CHS. And it's **a whole lot** better thought out and better written than some of the admin communications that came out when my kids were in the SOMA schools (1990-2005).

A big chunk of that freshman year bubble is kids who went to private k-8 switching to CHS rather than going to private high school. Another chunk (not sure how big) is families (mainly renters) who move here so their kids can go to CHS.


I always think it is interesting that it seems to be mostly the same people who are most up in arms about all the (alleged) 'illegal' students sneaking in,who talk about how awful CHS supposedly is. Kinda contradictory to my way of thinking.
