From The Pig In The White House

I will bring wrath down on me for saying this, but here goes: reading this thread’s title as I check in here and scroll down the discussions, I feel ashamed to see the President denigrated — I would feel the same, no matter who was sitting in the WH. That word is a major slur and implies a threat. Think about its use as a reference to police officers.
whew, good to get that feeling out there.

Should've stopped sentence at : "I feel ashamed to see the president... ."

Apologize to all pigs whose succulent flesh we barbecue all summer. They don't deserve the slur...then again, maybe we shouldn't be eating them. They're smart. A major difference between The Pig and the pigs.

That's what the Torah and Koran say.

A good time to be an atheist.

On my online reading list is a very "orthodox" Catholic writer, who addressed this issue ("Christianist") yesterday.

Which brings us back to the problem of Christianists and Christianism. I don’t think Christianists are Not Real Christians[TM]. I think that, insofar as they hold to Christianist ideology–a theopolitical cultus devoted to the defense of every lie and evil act of the Party of Trump–they are bad Christians. Indeed, in some cases I think they are Christians who are sinning gravely. I think that, combined with their intense animus to the teaching of Pope Francis and the Magisterium, the grotesque excuses for Nazis and white supremacists, and their frequent, scandalous contempt for the Faith and worship of money, pleasure and power, they constitute the gravest challenge to the witness of the Church in our time.  I believe that God’s Name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of them.

 no, not really.

it is almost funny to see a total lack of belief that a poster just might be capable of holding an opinion/perspective other than the approved liberal line. March in step, or be ostracized.

BTW, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to anyone who thought of Porky Pig when reading this thread title.

 that's not it at all.

It's bizarre that you write something like this:

I feel ashamed to see the President denigrated — I would feel the same, no matter who was sitting in the WH.

there is an extremely long thread created by you to denigrate the man sitting in the White House five years ago, and you proceeded to bash him for another three years.  How can you not comprehend that that is what we're reacting to?

We're talking about a "man" who says stuff like this, against all facts we know. We should respect a guy who thinks we 're idiots?

He's a lying pig (despite weighing only 239 lbs.)

A lying pig who respects no one.

He tells Holt; he tells Russians. But he never said it. Respect him?

And a provocative pig as well:

The pig probably had no idea who this guy was until one of his WH radicals told him.

You have a right to your opinion. I just never understand what it is.

Roseanne posted a vulgar racist Tweet. ABC cancelled her show and the head of ABC apologized to the target of Roseanne's tweet. Trump's only reaction was to ask why that person had not apologized to him.

My opinion is that it's wrong for Trump to make the whole thing about himself. What is your opinion?

Trump behaves in a way that none of us would accept from a friend or family member. We criticize him for it, and you think we are being disrespectful? Where is your respect for decency? In my view, his position does not excuse his behavior. Why do you excuse it?

As to your italics comment, I meant what I said. I have respect for the office of the president and the occupant — however much I might disagree with policies, etc

Your statement re the What’s Happening thread is totally false. I always referred to our president as Mr Obama, Me President, the President and BHO. I never commented on his personal appearance or ridiculed    his speech.

Benghazi, as old readers of that thread are well aware, got my attention and I questioned lots of his decisions from that point on. As in “line in the sand”.

I never used slurs or threatening statements. Folks these days seem to sprinkle nasty misspelled words every time they disagree on something or someone. Some Posters also think disrespecting our president and our flag a blood sport — and so terribly smart.

Anarchy is destructive — civil discourse and free speech and hate speech are different. Ugly speech is just plain ugly.

you posted page after page of falsehoods about Obama, even after it was pointed out to you that you were making false claims.

There is nothing more denigrating than spreading lies about someone.  And you did it routinely.

It's sad that you cannot see your own hyperpartisanship.

mtierney,

You support and defend a vile racist who built a political career on defaming Obama in the ugliest of ways. There's no way around that.

Here's convicted felon Dinesh D'Souza on the daily presidential intelligence briefing griping about Trump's favorite pre-presidency adversary Rosie O'Donnell.

I imagine after that the president immediately asked who is this guy and how do we give him a pardon?

@mtierney, please try to answer my questions. If they don't make sense to you, it means you are not looking at your behavior carefully enough. Think hard, please. You are doing something bad, and you should face it.

D'Souza is either stupid, or he thinks the rest of us our stupid.  He wasn't convicted of donating over the campaign finance limits.  He was convicted of using straw donors to hide his donations.  O'Donnell isn't accused of anything like that.  If you exceed the limits, typically the candidate just refunds your money, and maybe you get a fine.  It's a civil offense, not criminal.  What D'Souza did was a type of election campaign finance fraud.  I think he's smart enough to know that.  But I think he figures the right wing base is gullible enough that he can convince them he did nothing worse that what Rosie O'Donnell did.

Certainly makes clear why Republicans want to make it harder for POC to vote.

I will. I am steadfastly opposed to Trump, but this crosses a line.

Invoking Bin Laden is akin to invoking Hitler at this point.

Bad politics.

It may be bad politics and bad taste, but it is true. OBL attacked us from the outside and it united us. Trump attacks us from the inside and it tears us apart. Much much worse.

The ad says that Trump is a threat to American Democracy. That is absolutely true. Nancy Pelosi said she didn't condone the ad but if Trump wants civility in political discussions he should start with himself.

There is an old saying about fighting fire with fire.

OTOH Mrs. Obama said "When they go low we go high". How did that work out?

I think it's so precious when Republicans complain about attack ads.

Such delicate snowflakes.

Same as initial resistance against Hitler. There, I said it.
