Little Sophie is friendlier every day. Once a feral scared kitty, she now loves to play, and likes her chin scratched. She would be happy in a quiet home, where she can look out the windows and love and trust her human.
I wish I had room for more... Sadie and Sophie are just darling with their nose smudges. Hope they find new homes very soon!
And for anyone who thinks they want a tiny kitten, please give some thought to an older kitten or adolescent cat. They are wonderful, wonderful little animals with tons of cuteness and kitten energy left!
since my husband will not let me have another cat, after ours died last year, I'm going to get my fill at Puppy Love. It will take everything I have, I'm sure, not to bring them all home. Wish me luck! Can't wait.
This little nugget is Milo. He is only 4 weeks old. Milo will be available for adoption in 4 weeks. I played with Milo this morning and for a tiny fellow, he's one feisty kitten. He is available for adoption thru Furry Hearts Rescue in Maplewood NJ.
Me: Hi Milo, aren't you cute! Milo: Pick me up! Me: Aren't you cuddly! Milo: Feed Me! Me; Let's get some pictures, I don't have anything for you. Milo: Play with me! Me: Ow--you are fiesty! Milo: nom, nom, nom, nom
Silver and Georgie are sweet as can be waiting for a home of their own. Playful, and loving, they deserve a home where they can share their love, and play and run. Available thru Furry Hearts rescue, Maplewood NJ.
His blanket is black and blue, but, Luke is definitely gold and white!
..or is that cream and marmalade? Luke is a new arrival. Clearly he was someone's kitty before being tossed outside. Luke was taken from a feral colony and is as loving as can be. He deserves to be in a home and not out on the street. He will be UTD on his shots this week. He tests negative for any disease. He is available for adoption from Furry Hearts Rescue in Maplewood.
I picked up these 2 youngsters, both males and had them neutered. They are negative for FIV/FELV and had their shots. They are Maplewoodians and were handled by their caretaker since they were kittens, combed and cuddled. They are a little spooked by their new surroundings but I reached in today and began petting each one carefully on the head, then moved to a quick chin scratch on the tux. I think they are good adoption candidates, and they are brothers about 6 months old. Glad you added these pictures @Jeanneh. As for that rascal Milo, I'm on bottle feeding duty tomorrow night!
Omg Luke is one of the sweetest cats I've ever met. I spent parts of Saturday and Sunday petting him and he is a lovebug! Poor baby was probably someone's pet who was thrown out on the street. He truly would make a wonderful pet and really needs a good home! He's a sweetheart.
Are you interested in becoming a cat colony caretaker? Furry Hearts Rescue is seeking to relocate a small cat colony living in the middle of town who will otherwise be trapped and destroyed. Leave a message on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FurryHeartsRescue if you want to take on this life saving roll. Maplewood residents preferred, but others will be considered.
Moving a colony is a process that involves several steps. I'm not the cat colony expert at Furry Hearts--but from what I understood, the cats are captured and moved to the new location and kept in a garage or a contained area and fed. Once they know where to find the food source, they can be allowed out.
A Furry Heart's approved cat colony caretaker will have a detailed list of what cats belong in the colony. All the cats will have been spayed/neutered and UTD on their shots. SO, they will not produce anymore kitties and they will not contract rabies. The caretaker will monitor the colony for any sick kitties, and is responsible for their welfare. Furry Hearts Rescue pays for all transport/vet costs/ and maintenance costs for the cats.
How do you determine where a new location will work? I can imagine a lot of "NIMBY" responses from people living nearby the new location. (Not trying to make any trouble; genuinely trying to figure out how this works.)
Furry Hearts wants to give these cats a chance at life.
If they cannot be relocated they will trapped and destroyed just for living in the wrong place. I understand many if not all have been spayed and neutered.
I think it's best to contact Alley Cat Allies or NJ Animal Protection League for expert help. Relocating an entire colony is not something to be taken lightly or swiftly. Is there a reason that the person who has obviously been feeding the cats cannot continue to do so? Established colonies are not so willing to allow "new" members in to their group.
