So three months out since my Achilles tendon repair (minus 5 days) and
all is WELL. Not to give it a kona hura poo poo poo, but the doc is
happy with my progress and is very happy with his handwork (Me? I think I
had something to do with my recovery!) Thank you thank you thank you
to all who sent a note, a text, email, post, food, flowers, medical
supplies,EVERYTHING. One more doc visit in 6 weeks and then I can really
start planning my November trip on the largest cruise ship in the whole
wide WORLD.!! I know I know..don't overdo
And I am back not so happily Everything was going great until last week Wentfor my 4 month check up on Thursday and Doctor was amazed about how well I recovered and gave me carte blanche to do what I wanted no limitations on activities but listen to my body
WELL, off to the City Saturday night After the show , instead of taking a cab, we walked from Park to 7th to catch the train Now I can't walk at all Screwed up the knee on the bad leg badly doc has scheduled an MRI this week and I'll know more after we get the results
Discouraged isn't a strong enough word
This too shall pass. You will feel much better once you have the results from the latest MRI and know exactly what you are dealing with. Having patience and listening to your body are two great pieces of advice. Listening to your doctor is a close third.
Something similar happened to someone else I know. First he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot. Then his knee really started hurting because he was using it to compensate for the foot. After being on crutches for a relatively short while to take pressure off the knee, he is back to walking unaided and pain free.
It will take a little while but you too will be back on both legs in no time. Heal well.
Oh, what a drag! As Joan said, it could be an injury resulting from shifting stress from the bad foot to somewhere else, but I hope it is something that can be dealt with easily (and painlessly)!!!
I know LL personally, as do many people
She is one tough lady
She might not be ready for rugby as yet
But she could still be on my team
Thanks guys. So very frustrated. After seeing the doc Monday am and told I need an MRI I STILL hadn't gotten the necessary authorization as of this morning. Insurance company pointed finger at doctor, doctor said to call facility and facility (the ACC) said they didn't receive any info from the doc. They kept saying another 24-48 hours JUST to get the insurance authorization and then first make the appointment, have the test, have the test read and then see the ortho doc again. Took it into my own hands this morning, made LOTS of calls and now have an appt for MRI this afternoon and doc appt Friday morning. Will know more then but at least we are moving forward
Grrr.
don't you just LOVE bureaucracy???
Let us know how it goes. I'm so sorry you have to go through more of this stuff. But good for you for pushing through the crap!
once you get the hang of the system it works fairly efficiently MRI done and should have results in 48 hours
Hurry up and wait
Discharged by my orthopedist 6 months to the day from my Achilles' tendon surgery. It was a hard 1/2 year but thanks to all of you ,my dear family and friends, I made it. Thank you for the support , your help and your love!!
Next stop, skydiving!!!!( j/k but I have no restrictions. Whoo hoo)
well, I'm thinking our dear friend might take up Masters Ice Dancing as a sport, now she's got permission to look gorgeous, be dazzling and perform stunningly graceful manoeuvres with thrilling ease...
Six months ago I could not take ONE step. Ruptured Achilles' tendon Today this is the results of just 12 hours on my feet with my Fitbit. 10,000 steps here I come!!!

OK skinny, you want me to find another Icecapades graphic for you?? ">
Love you, dear friend !
Great progress. If you can do 7,510 steps, you can do 10,000 easily. All you need to do is find the time to do it.
Alas a minor set back again. Off to surgery tomorrow at 6 AM for a torn meniscus in the knee of my bad leg. It appears that I walked funny because of my bad Achilles and that rip the meniscus in the knee. Can't tell you I'm not discouraged another 3 to 4 weeks recovery.
You will feel better once the surgery is done. Wishing you good health and increased mobility in the coming year.
Home from surgery! Doc said it went well
Had to have nerve block so I can't try to walk for 24 hours. Follow up on Thursday at doc. Sleepy time time. I'll
Be okay!!

Maizy,
Hang in there. One thing I learned was ask for and accept help!. That was hard for me to do but people are innately kind and good. I'm in a position to give back a little bit now so let me know if you need a supermarket run or just some company!!
