Is It Time To Rethink Our Approach To Preschool And Kindergarten?

It was the screaming all caps presentation and insulting language that I found most impressive.

Again, the issue isn't full day vs half day kindergarten. The issue is forcing academics on children before they are ready and the long lasting damage that can result from doing so.

At that age, play is the education of a child. Now, I suppose that clever people can come up with play that educates as well, but that has to done carefully.

But if you read the article it seems that the studies say that while adding academics to play isn't harmful, it isn't helpful either. Any gains are short lived and disappears quickly. It doesn't hurt, but it doesn't help either, so why bother? Why not just let young children play since it does them so much good and isn't wasted time as many seem to believe.
