That Walter Jackson track ought to inspire another arnomation thread: Covers That Sound Like They Should Have Been the Original.
Can't get enough Candi Staton. Nice collection came out a decade ago on the Honest Jons label, which also released a similarly fine disc of a singer I had missed, Bettye Swann:
Candi Staton is amazing. She's had three pretty distinct chapters to her career; the first being as a straight up soul/r&b singer, the 2nd when she recorded the dance smashes like Victim and Young Hearts Run Free and then the third when she became a gospel singer. Recently she has begun to sing non-gospel material again. LOVE Candi Staton!
It's been a bit, but after some rummaging through my record box lately I came up with these; I HOPE they aren't re-posts! L.J. Reynolds, "Let One Hurt Do" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RwrwuTdhFw
