Reset the political mind set in the Middleeast.

there's also a great deal of self-congratulatory rhetoric, much of it from conservatives, regarding how Christianity has moved so far from the theocratic days of old Europe.  Certainly none of the U.S. states are theocracies, and none of them are on even a fraction of the scale of oppressiveness of the Taliban.

And yet, many of these same conservatives are perfectly fine with U.S. states repressing women by limiting their access to contraception or abortion.  And that repression is solely based on Christian beliefs.  There is no policy or economic reason to limit contraception or abortion, only a religious reason.  So before we pat ourselves on the back too hard for our secular freedoms, we should take note that states like Kentucky and Arkansas are more repressive toward women than Massachusetts or California.  And that repressiveness is Christian-based.

+10 (I did not think you and I would ever be on the same side of any issue.  I think you have this one analyzed accurately).

Who can doubt that our greatest hypocrisy is being in bed with the Saudis, who breed terrorists like we breed those silly little pocket dogs.

This current deal gives Saudis jobs and loads of weapons to prop up a failing economy with oil never expected to reach the prices that allowed the government to employ the majority of Saudi workers, provide healthcare and education.

There is hope! smile

How dare you make such judgmental and insensitive comments about dogs.

I think "silly" is just a description, not a pejorative

"It's poverty and repression that makes impulsive violence seem to be the only road."

That's an old idea, a cop out; and a sick excuse for murdering innocent civilian men, women, and children. There's an awful lot of poverty and repression in the world where the people don't rise to the level of violence we see coming from the Islamic extremists.

I believe it's much more than poverty and repression, its more about the quest for power of a small minority of world leadership, to achieve the domination of the innocent an unarmed majority. Just say'n, President Trump has set us on a new road to peace; not only in the Middle East, but in the world.

He sure has, and he's still only warming up for his next four years...

So it took this Iran sh!tshow to bring you out of hiding?

I guess it makes sense. Only a Trumper would see his biggest blunder as his greatest victory.

...not hiding, always watching, I was just bored with the same old "Never Trumper" BS. FWIW, what brings me out, and what I find fascinating, is how killing this bad guy Soleimani has become such an issue. And now a War Powers Resolution regarding Iran; who BTW, we've been at war with for 40 years...

IMHO, denigrating and vilifying those who oppose you is not a "winning" argument.

that's not a denigration. It's a description of a behavior. And a quite concise one, with great depth, if I do say so myself.
