Roseanne cancelled!

[It's] a little strange to hire her in the first place, given her history of, let's call them racially-insensitive tweets. So now they're shocked, shocked that she would do such a thing!
Yes I agree, they should have known better in hiring her.  And it sucks for the others on the show who have done nothing wrong, especially the people who didn't already have major work outside of this show.
It's also a shame for the people who believed in her message otherwise.

If ABC and Disney should have seen this coming, so too for everyone else who worked on the show.

Ambien not working too well for her-

Not that I'm a big fan of Ambien, but I believe that her twitter history should be more than enough history to exonerate Ambien and put the blame squarely on Roseann's shoulders.

The tiny silver lining here is that it shows what a bad decision NBC not to fire Donald Trump for his racist remarks when he was on the network.

From Sanofi, the makers of Ambien.

Just further evidence that if you scratch a Trump supporter, you will find a racist.  A reminder that these deplorables truly are irredeemable.

Her "tweets" had specific "hashtags", which to me make the Ambien claim sound like BS.

we've seen Ambien posting on MOL. People tend to be pretty disoriented and their prose can be unintelligible. Roseanne's was pretty clear and to the point.

drift? (in response to Klinker's post just above)

While personally pretty much in despair about djt, I still object to thinking of "Trump supporter[s]" as a homogeneous and "irredeemable" group.  Sure, they all have the Huge djt fiasco in common, and shouldn't have voted for him; but they come from a variety of backgrounds, and have a range of political and other ideas/concerns beyond djt.  Keeping in mind that some large number also voted for Obama (including, apparently, our own mtierney).  The left/center needs to be addressing the needs of the country & proposing ways to improve people's (including T supporters') lives, effectively, loudly, and repetitively, while of course still trying to cope with T.

Continuing to refer to them en masse as "deplorable" keeps alive a talking point, to the benefit of the truly deplorable, and makes it difficult for the others who voted for T to hear the message of the opposition.

People have done some strange, out of character things while on Ambien.  There was one case where a woman left her home, walked to a 7-11, picked up a random guy and a box of condoms, and brought him home.  The next morning, when the Ambien wore off, she freaked out because she had no idea of what had happened.

But again, out of character is key to the Ambien defense.  For Roseanne, when looking at past tweets it wasn't out of character, so I don't blame Ambien in this instance.  But if it were someone who no known history of this behavior, and they tweeted some extremely offensive stuff, I might be more willing to consider Ambien as a possibility.

Edited to correct the manner in which the woman went to the 7-11

"Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?"

I know its been said before, but its creepy and more than a little disturbing when he insists on referring to himself in the third person.  I know, in light of everything else he has done it is minor, but it just gets under my skin

If individual Trumpomites want to save their souls and repudiate him, the more power to them but I fear that any strategy  that relies on people who are so debased that they would vote for a racist rapist will fail at that task and, in doing so, cost us the votes of the folks we need to win a real and meaningful victory.

The Dems spent a lot of effort over the last two decades screwing POC to court white racist voters and the result is Donald Trump. Its time we stop trying to redeem the irredeemable and focus on building a coalition that can earn us victories without them.

Am I the only one here who finds this claim laughable?  What did her hand slip and she checked the wrong box?

Based in her comments here and her ardent support of a racist for President I simply refuse to believe this absurdity.

I think the most benefit of the doubt we can give them is that they may not all be racists, but many of them have a very high tolerance of racism.

That was such a thoughtful well-written tweet by that famous person.... said no one ever.

I don't understand why famous people use Twitter.  Does anyone remember good tweets?

As someone who has posted here while using Ambien, I can fully understand that it can mess with your memory and your coherence.  Here are some of the things I have done while thinking I was asleep:  posted on MOL, bought a Louis Vuitton purse, sent an email to my cousin, ate a jar of salsa and woke up in a different pajamas.  At no point did I ever write/say/do anything that was racist, sexist, homophobic or offensive, because that is not the way my mind works.  Ambien doesn't make you into something that you are not.

I also think Trump is a pretty big Ambien user just because he posts stuff at weird hours of the morning that makes little to no sense, like it he's in a fog and hasn't completely come out of it.

When I was young and single who knew to hang out at 7-11.

NASHVILLE (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump held a rally in Nashville on Tuesday night and addressed his most ardent supporters, people who take the sleep medication known as Ambien.

Trump served up a hefty helping of fiery rhetoric guaranteed to appeal to Ambien users, whose votes propelled him to the White House, in 2016.

Trump defended his use of the word “animals” to describe some undocumented immigrants, earning a huge ovation from the Ambien-dosed crowd.

He also said that Mexico would pay for a wall on its border with the U.S., a claim that he has repeatedly made while under the influence of Ambien.

Although some have criticized Trump for using code words and dog whistles guaranteed to appeal to the worst instincts of his Ambien-using base, Carol Foyler, who attended the Nashville rally, disagreed.

“Donald Trump says what I think when I’m messed up on Ambien,” she said.
