I've now gone for my second treatment with Debra Bernath -- an hour of reflexology. My gosh, for the first time in I don't know how long my feet didn't hurt when I walked out of there (I was kidding her saying could she just wheel the table down Springfield and take me home so I wouldn't have to walk on them). I'm now reading the book "The Dragon's Way" that she recommended in preparation for taking her course in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Win-win all the way!!!

Isn't Debra amazing? We are so lucky to have her at Shakti. Please tell all your friends about her incredible hands. grin There was a a thread on Reflexology not too long ago. Perhaps you could also post there as well. We want as many people to benefit as possible from Debra's gifts. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us.

I was looking for that thread and couldn't find it so I posted it here. Oh, you will get to know me -- when I find something good, I tell the world! :-D

Yes, her hands are incredibly healing and comforting and I mentioned that to her both times I saw her. (I studied shiatsu myself in the early '90s and I know how important that is.)

I bumped up the thread for you. Sometimes people search on the title of the thread. I am so happy to hear you have happy feet! We greatly appreciate you spreading the word about Debra. Thank you so much!

@mumstheword I agree!! I had a prenatal massage with Debra recently and it was lovely.

I was SO looking forward to a class for folks like me...as flexible as a piece of mahogany. What class would you recommend for an inflexible man with chronic low back pain? Here are examples of my yoga poses. I'm sure you've seen them before:

OK, before I start sounding like they're paying me to say these things, I just want to say I had my first Qigong Meridian Therapy with Debra Bernath today and it was the best yet (I previously had shiatsu and reflexology which were also terrific). I can't wait to have another session.

@shaktiyoga: does the 3-massage summer special package listed above apply to the Qigong Therapy?

I'm looking forward to trying out the Mommy & Me class soon. This may seem silly, but does the class actually incorporate the baby? Or should I plan to bring something in which to set the baby down? Thanks!!

@TarheelsInNJ, not a silly question at all! The class is geared for the moms. Usually the baby is napping in a basket or stroller or sometimes on the yoga mat or blanket on the floor near mom. Sometimes, of course, your baby wants to be held so you move with your baby or Ires holds your baby. If your baby wants to nurse, that's fine too! It's really a wonderful class. You bond with the other moms, establish friendships, and get to move your body. We have yoga mats and blankets at the studio but you can also bring anything from home. We look forward to having you take a class!

Satsang ~ association with truth, in the company of the wise, sitting with others and listening to or discussing the highest spiritual truth. Meditate, Chant, Absorb - tonight with Prem Sadasivananda ~ former monk and director of the Sivananda Yoga Center in NYC (& London). Please join us.

A correct approach to one’s weaknesses is the key to growth.

Learn how to make your mind your best friend.

Prem Sadasivananda (formerly known as Swami Sadasivananda) is a direct and long-term disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda, who in the 1950s was sent to teach yoga in the west by his master, the renowned Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, India.

Prem's spiritual journey began in service as a sannyasin (monk) for 24 years in the Sivananda Organization where he was the director of the New York City and London centers. He taught extensively during Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at Sivananda ashrams worldwide. Through his teachings of yoga and Vedanta, Prem continues his service by helping others in their spiritual pursuits.

Bridging his unique experience as a sannyasin and now committed teacher on his own, he is able to truly give a loving and gentle perspective for spiritual aspirants who want a deeper purpose in life. Prem is well-known for his depth of knowledge of yoga psychology, meditation, positive thinking and life coaching, Vedanta philosophy, and Sanskrit and Hindu scriptures. His satsangs and kirtan are uplifting, and his unique style of teaching is accessible, clear and humorous.
