HA. I love this place. Where else can I reliably get scolded by some moronic jack **** with reading comprehension challenges.
Dear Mr Terp, I do apologise. I was tired and failed to acknowledge that the FOI request was ‘accomplished’ with a useless response. In fact, this formed the basis of the dream I had… trying to track info.
Please forgive me.

This is a bit bleak

I had no idea that bubonic plague is a relatively common illness in some western parts of the USA. We haven’t had it here for around 100 years.

I worked a couple of summers in NM and part of the orientation was warning us about rodent droppings. Its not common exactly, but it is present in the area.
Back to the topic, no doubt everyone heard the news about Paul Alexander:

70 years in an iron lung. Shudder. And he managed to have a career, and a relatively long life….
The biggest purveyors of misinformation has been those who have been screaming to censor others for supposedly spreading disinformation. The venerable NY Times apparently even sees that school closures were a non-productive disaster.

For the record of what some people on this site were saying:
Seems there was a push toward a binary "open everything" or "close everything." As I noted at one point, I would have expected that bars be closed and schools open, but we got the opposite.
Given that, I would have expected that bars be closed and schools open, but we got the opposite.

Damn. Some of the arguments on that thread did not age well. The criticism of DeSantis and the hope to get to herd immunity. And the lamenting of Republicans politicizing the pandemic while the democrats, the CDC, and the corporate press was doing all they could to shut anyone up who dared question triple masking. yikes.
The reason the schools were closed for so long especially here is that the adults were scared children.

the only reason anyone ever cites someone else to present a "fact" is because they view them as an authority.
that's why you made the post.
it makes zero sense otherwise.
or are you agreeing with me that Bass is not an authority here.
which is it?
can't believe I even had to say that.

also, I did not make a call to authority argument.
I believe I did the opposite, as I challenged his authority to make the claim.

didn't even notice. I stopped reading at Kevin Bass.
Among the various deficiencies of many news outlets, I notice that many articles write about current events as though it was to be the state of affairs for now and the future without hope of remediation. Articles on learning disruption due to remote learning fit this mold. The reality, of course, is that most students will close the gap over time.

Ha. That's quite an assertion.
So I’m not sure if anyone has read this article on preparing for the next pandemic, compared with recent experience on the last pandemic. I think you’ll find the writer’s views interesting, and readers’ comments even more so.

Very exciting international research on vaccines for UTIs - mostly UK research combined with other countries’. The vaccines are administered sprayed orally, under the tongue, and are pineapple flavoured. The European Association of Urology Congress, held earlier this month, witnessed the presentation of findings on the 9-year study.
