The Vestibular Monologues: Pottery and Pilates

Peggy, what emmie said. It's a real kick in the stomach, even though it's a big opportunity, too. go for it! (and when it gets challenging, hug those kitties - and lean on the MOLers)

I'd love to join you two for lunch if it's not on one of my 2 days in the classroom! We can celebrate this turn of events.

Posted By: metaphysicianThen the first LUNCH is on me.

(it usually is, unless I wear a lobster bib)

No, no, no, there's no need for that. I wasn't bidding for a charity lunch. I think I can afford a plate of chicken tikka masala on my second to last paycheck.:tooth:

Posted By: PeggyCDoesn't sound too bad, really. And getting away from the Dementers is a huge plus.

Well, Congratulations in that case. You probably knew it would come to an end someday anyway.

Coming into this thread late and was initially going to post "that SO sucks"... however... now that I've reached the bottom, I'd say champagne is in order. Savor the freedom and head toward your heart's desire!

PS: If you're willing to pick me up at my place of employment (because Lord knows I'd never get a parking spot if I left). I will happily treat you to lunch at Lalibella.

MelissaH and Meta, you are on for lunch! SOORLady, would you like to join us? When shall we make it?

I think it's really funny this has turned so celebratory.

I am open Mon, Tues, Wed or Thurs of next week.

"My dearest PeggyC, when all seems bad, just think happy bunny thoughts. It works for me!"

Peggy:

I know only good will come out of this. Best of luck in finding your dream job.

By a strange coincidence, so am I.

And here I was, worried I wasn't going to have a vacation this year because there hadn't been time with all the crap raining down at work.

Wow, what a bummer, but.............congratulations?...................I'm sure sorry, but....................good for you?

So, you go girl.

(does this mean you might have time to stop by and meet our Rocky baby in person sometime next week and we could actually meet F2F, finally?)

Well, there's a bit of gallows humor involved, because being let go is never fun, and I'm actually quite worried about paying the mortgage in an ongoing way, but so far the support from everyone has been awesome, and I even have a few really good ideas for looking for a new position. I think reality will set in soon, and not looking nearly this cheerful.

Still, it's true that this job was really painful to endure. One woman who is still working there was disappointed that it wasn't HER getting laid off today. She figures her turn is coming, and she can hardly wait.

Oooooooo, now there's an incentive. Nobody else offered to let me meet a fluffy little boy cat.

Sure, name the evening.

Definitely a silver lining there, bummer that it is to get laid off. Look forward to hearing what your new career will be!

Why must it be evening? You're home ALL DAY now!

Posted By: meandtheboysWhy must it be evening? You're home ALL DAY now!

My fault, I misread! I really thought it said evening, and I was wondering why! :rolling:

But yes, I am free as a bird. So name the DAY. Of course, we should schedule soon. You never know when I might have to put on my Ann Taylor suit and go out on a job interview.

PC - I would love to join you, Melissa & Meta for lunch - but I am on a time limit of sorts and wouldn't want to impose my schedule upon any of you (I was serious about not moving my car!).

Oh, crap, PeggyC. It always sucks, even when you hated the job because you loved the paycheck. Let me know if you want to meet up at Starbucks sometime. You get free refills (and free air conditioning) if you pay with a registered gift card. Maybe you can dust off that thesis and resubmit. I'm recharging all of my old credentials.

Thanks, Nan, might take you up on that sometime! And I'd love to dust off my thesis, if only I knew where it was. I think my mother has the only known copy. :shamed: I was the only honors student to write a thesis that ended up running 128 pages. Come to think of it, my advisor DID tell me I should try to get it published... wonder if it's too late?

PeggyC, if you are free for lunch one day, let me take you up to Saffron on Rte 10.

Oh, boy. I would have started a thread long ago about losing my job if I'd known it would result in so many invitations!

Just kidding. SOParent, I'd love to join you for lunch at Saffron. I've been curious about it for ages.

Dang, I only just lost my job today, and already my schedule is full. This is so cool I can't even express it.

We're home all day Monday settling in with our new baby on his first day home.

The kids go back to school--ALL DAY--on Thursday, so any day after that, for the most part, I AM FREE AS A BIRD! Then maybe I need to see about finding some kind of work too. Lord knows what that would be!

Peggy,. best of luck on finding a better position.

Wow. This is pretty momentous, huh? So, when would you like to see me and have me meet Mr. Rocky? why don't you email me when you think you'll be ready after all the upheaval of a new kit and sending the boys off to school?

I kinda survived performance appraisal yesterday...sorta. My colleague was axed two weeks ago, the scapegoat to make budgets cuts before their dept is audited by our govt funder.

I just KNOW there are doors and windows bursting open with white curtains fluttering out to meet welcoming breezes in Peggy's sunny future...wish I could be there for some serious de-briefing/career counselling!!

I think it's a good guess that our schedules are/will be pretty flexible, so no need to worry about an imposition.

Now, THAT is a nice mental image. I wish you were here for the debriefing, too. Hope all is well there...

What he said.

I wanna meet Meta!

Harumph! {{crossing arms and stomping foot}}
